About the movie
The story revolves around Hutum, who hails from a very small suburban town. He belongs to a poor family that somehow manages to make their ends meet. He supports his family consisting of his Father, Mother, a younger sister and an elder brother, by distributing newspapers in his locality. His bosom friend Rajarshi is a small time videographer who has a computer at home and is very conversant with the Internet world, including Facebook. Hutum, being a film fanatic and having no goals and ambitions in his life, spends most of his time daydreaming and more so, to avoid the daily scuffles and numerous `cats & dogs` situations at home. Rajarshi gets Hutum hooked on to Facebook, to help him ease his troubled mind, where he could make friends and have a world away from his troubled place. Like most of the youngsters, on Facebook, Hutum`s dreamy eyes gets set on a girl from Delhi - Payel. She tells Hutum that she belongs to a well-to-do heterogeneous family of a Bengali Mother, Non Bengali Father and an Elder Brother (Indrasish Roy). Her family is conservative and she gets shivers down her spine when it comes to her notorious brother. Hutum and Payel get along very well which turns into an affair, but all through mobile phone, computers and webcams. Suddenly an incident throws all these haywire and Hutum is left all alone, searching for his love Payel. He slowly goes out of control, and even upon continuous insistence by Rajarshi to stop these and find a new friend on Facebook, Hutum decides to go to Delhi.With no money in his hand and with no support from anywhere, he breaks all barriers of logic and reason while he embarks on a journey to Delhi, on his bicycle, with whatever help he could get from his dear friend Rajarshi.
Hutum struggles with his cycle on his way while the days and nights he spends on the highway, starts taking a toll on him. To make things worse for him, his cycle gets robbed on the highway, from a Dhaba.He gets very upset and could not decide what to do and where to go. Then all of a sudden he meets a T.V. channel director who helps him to reach Delhi and after listening to his love story, he promises Hutum that he and his channel team will help him achieve his love. What happens next is the crux of the film `FAKEBOOK`. How far can you go for love?
