Palaivana Cholai
About the movie
A `2009 version`, or in other words, a remake of the 1981 film going by the same name, Palaivan Cholai follows the original story of five men and a girl to a large extent. Autorickshaw driver Prabhu (Nitin Satya), poor rich kid Yuvan (Abhinay), aspiring actor Aadhi (Satyan), shorts-eats maker Ramana (Sanjeev) and under-used junior lawyer Iniyan (Chams) are your usual men-on-the-compound wall type, rough hewn but basically good. Their singular aim is to make Priya (Karthika) fall for them. But behind Priya`s smiling and cheerful face is a sad tale. She has an irreversible heart condition. But after the standard tear-jerker scene that is not fashionable even in television serials anymore (sister`s wedding stopped at the nth hour because of dowry demands), the climax comes on cue: Priya is rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.
