SYNOPSIS
The world's top protection agent (Ryan Reynolds) is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world's most notorious hitmen (Samuel L. Jackson). The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their raucous and hilarious adventure from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator (Gary Oldman) who is out for blood. Salma Hayek joins the mayhem as Jackson's equally notorious wife.

Verdict: The stellar cast puts the act in this action comedy. The Hitman's Bodyguard brings the dream pairing of Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson that works effortlessly well on screen. Ryan Reynolds plays a protection agent, Michael Bryce, who goes from guarding international clients to protecting rich drug addicts when a client dies []... ...Read full review
hen you have two bonafide wisecracking action stars together on screen, you pretty much know what to expect - fireworks, F-bombs, explosions, more F-bombs, and bullets flying every which way. `Hitman`s Bodyguard` has all the right ingredients for a recipe that`s a lot of fun. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are well equipped for the characters they play because, in some ways, they`re playing variations of themselves. ...Read full review
The Hitmans Bodyguard begins with explosion and shots fired. Then men emerge, all dressed in suits. Theres a top shot of a city. Cars big and small bounce about; theres an impossible-to-do jump; armed men die in every scene. ...Read full review
One must acknowledge the audacity of writer Tom OConnor in penning a story about a hitman and a bodyguard, and positing it as putting a dictator behind bars. That dictator is the president of Belarus, a country that, the film helpfully tells us, for no reason at all, is ex-Soviet Union. So, you know, it has the kind of president who goes about killing rivals/enemies/dissidents with everything from mysterious poisons to gigantic trucks. ...Read full review
This wretched action comedy stars Ryan Reynolds as a bodyguard entrusted with escorting an assassin (Samuel L Jackson) from Coventry to the Hague (!) to testify against the deposed Belarusian president (Gary Oldman, wearily dusting down his failsafe eastern heavy accent). Director Patrick Hughes seems to have just asked everyone involved to, you know, do the usual. Jackson gives badass, Salma Hayek gives Latina hellcat, Reynolds wears a look that suggests that someone has shoved their thumb very hard between his eyes. ...Read full review
There was a time when the buddy movie formula ruled the Hollywood cinematic universe. We loved the brashness of such films as Lethal Weapon or 48 Hours. But then the formula fizzled out and filmmakers moved to other things. To cite an obvious example, The Nice Guys (2016) starring such acting heavyweights as Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling was smartly set in the 70s but despite its okay plot, and superb acting by both Crowe and Gosling, wasnt a big box-office hit. ...Read full review
The buddy comedy gets into a little bit of a twist in this hitman-bodyguard team-up where long-winding mouthy and sometimes humorous dialogues hold up the outrageous shower of high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and furious almost unstoppable assemblage of merciless Eastern European mercenaries out for blood. ...Read full review
Typified by the work of Shane Black, the buddy action comedy was a Hollywood staple in the 80s and 90s, partly because on each occasion the audience knew exactly what they were going to get: a mismatched couple (often one conventional, one rule-breaker; sometimes one black, one white), pitched together to take down a Big Bad, crack wise and teach each other some life lessons along the way. This was all seasoned with car crashes, punishing punch-ups and the obligatory jump off a tall building with no chance of survival. ...Read full review
Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) is a triple A rated executive protection agent with a loving girlfriend, luxurious house, and Jaguar all his own until one of his clients is killed while under his protection. Two years later, Michael has lost the girlfriend, the house, and the car, as well as that triple A rating he was so proud of. Instead, hes resorted to protecting anyone who will hire him. ...Read full review
There is nothing original about the concept of "The Hitman`s Bodyguard", a conventional buddy film. Though the plot hinges on a flimsy point, the film is, yet, interestingly entertaining and engaging. It is a bonding tale, an action comedy between a mercenary assassin and his bodyguard. ...Read full review
