Born in present day Kolkata to a former Allahabad Bank employee, Anjan Srivastav has been part of the entertainment industry for over four decades. A commerce graduate with an LL.B degree, Aanjjan became an active part of various theatre groups while studying and performed plays for All India Radio as well. While he initially started by performing Bengali plays such as Kayakalp, The Chinese Wall, Aashad Ka Ek Din, Kachwa Aur Khargosh, Kisi Ek Phool Ka Naam Lo, and The Good Woman of Setzuan among many others, Aanjjan soon moved to Mumbai where he shortly joined the Indian People`s Theatre Association.
After being associated with several productions of IPTA, Aanjjan went on to become its General Secretary for few years only to become its Vice President later. Meanwhile, the theatre enthusiast also was associated with the city`s Prithvi Theatre. He has been associated with Hindi plays since 1978 and is active up until the present with plays like Hum Farishtey Nahin, Dekha Andekha, Ek Mamooli Aadmi, Tajmahal ka Tender, Orange Juice, Ek Aur Dronacharya, Ek Mamuli Aadmi, and Bakri to his credit among many others.
Following his long-standing theatre stint, Aanjjan received several movie and television show offers, starting his career with the cult comedy Gol Maal in 1979, playing the role of Inspector Sharma. Often seen playing the role of a laidback bureaucrat and a police officer, he appeared in movies such as Kaalia, Pyaar Ke Do Pal, Mr. India, Salaam Bombay!, Narasimha, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Damini, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Chak De! India, Tees Maar Khan, Jab Harry Met Sejal, and Firangi. In addition to his theatre and movie career, the seasoned actor has appeared in a number of television shows - Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Na Bole Tum... Na Maine Kuch Kaha, Samvidhaan and Wagle Ki Duniya are some of his recent works.
His latest movie releases include Mera Ramrajya Nai Kranti, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Chidiakhana.
