Akshara Haasan is an Indian film actress and assistant film director who is best known for her work in Bollywood and Kollywood. She is the daughter of actors Kamal Haasan and Sarita Thakur, and the younger sister of Shruti Haasan.

Early Life and Personal Life
Akshara was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to Kamal Haasan and Sarita Thakur. She did her schooling variously at Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai, Beacon High School in Mumbai and Indus International School, Bangalore. Following her parents` separation in 2004, Akshara lives with her mother in Mumbai.

Movie Career
Akshara started out as an assistant director, working with directors like Rahul Dholakia, Ram Moorthy and Ruchi Narain in the early phase of her career. In 2015, she made her acting debut with the film Shamitabh, which featured Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush in lead roles. The film opened to positive reviews and fared well at the box office. For her performance in the film, Akshara won a BIG Star Entertainment Award for Most Entertaining Actress (Debut).

The comedy film Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana and the Tamil action-thriller Vivegam are some of Akshara`s most-anticipated projects in 2017. She will also been seen returning to assistant direction with the spy comedy-adventure film Sabaash Naidu, which stars Kamal Haasan. Her 2019 release includes Kadaram Kondan.
