A multiple award-winning actress including an IIFA Award and a Filmfare Award, Amrita Rao is Indian TV and film actor and a model who works in the Bollywood and Telugu films. After making her debut on the silver screen with
Ab Ke Baras in 2002, she subsequently starred in romantic films like Ishq Vishq (2003),
Main Hoon Na (2004), and Vivah (2006), and eventually came to be known as the actress who portrays the quintessential girl next-door avatar.
The actress, who was included in the "50 Most Desirable Women of 2014" list by Times of India, before starting her career as an actor starred in several TV commercials and musical videos. Her first appearance on the screen was with the music video in Alisha Chinoy`s song, Who Pyar Mera. After completing her schooling, Amrita pursued her graduation degree in psychology from Sophia College, Mumbai. The actress who did not gain much recognition or fame with her first two films, she gained recognition and appreciation for her role in Ishq Vishk (2003). She showed her versatility with by playing the role of a bold and carefree girl in Main Hoon Na (2000).
In 2007, Amrita Rao ventured into Telugu cinema and made her debut in Tollywood with Athidhi, a Telugu action thriller film where she starred opposite the Telugu superstar
Mahesh Babu. In 2008, she came back to work in Bollywood and appeared in the lead role but most of her films bombed at the box office. Her next major release was the National Film Award winning black comedy film
Jolly LLB (2013). Her other notable film credits include

Satyagraha (2013), Sulemani Keeda (2014) and
Thackeray (2014).
Apart from films, the actress has also worked in TV. She made her debut on the small screen with the reality show Perfect Bride (2009) where she appeared as a judge. She later starred in the opera Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai (2016), which was aired on &TV.
