Born to G. Sreeramulu and G. Yashoda on 19th July 1984, Gajula Udayshankar is an actor in the Telugu film industry who made his debut in the critically acclaimed movie, "
Aatagadharaa siva" released in 2018. Prior to this, he worked as a child artist in the movie "Chirujallu". For his portrayal of a convict on death row in Aatagadharaa, he received critical and public acclaim. Gajula, who married Dr.Shweta, a dentist by profession, is an interesting mix of mathematical genius, memory, and acting talent. He came to be known as the `pi` boy, as he could recite from memory the first 7,000 decimal places of the decimal expansion of `pi`, both backward and forwards. He broke the record of 2,000 digits of `pi` held by Prof. A. C. Aitken of the Department of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh, U.K. Chosen for the `Ugadi Puraskar` in 2001 by the Madras Telugu Academy, the title - `Digital Ashtavadhani` was conferred to him.
