Henry Golding, the English actor who stole the hearts of millions after his appearance in Crazy Rich Asians (2018), was a hairdresser before he ever thought of getting into acting. Born in East Malaysia, Golding and his parents moved to England when he was eight. After his schooling, he worked as a hairdresser in London. Then, at the young age of 21, he moved to Kuala Lampur. His acting career started with him as a TV host for the BBC, Discovery Channel and the like.

The biggest stroke of luck for Golding was when someone suggested him to the director Jon Chu for his upcoming movie. Jon Chu followed Golding on Instagram, and one audition later Golding had the role of billionaire Nick Young. Crazy Rich Asians was a commercial and critical success, and also became a landmark for Asian representation in Hollywood. Since then Henry Golding has become a well-known name and face in the industry. He has appeared in a variety of genres including the thriller A Simple Favor (2018) and the British drama film Monsoon (2019) where he plays a British Vietnamese man who returns to his homeland to scatter his parents` ashes. His 2019 releases include the holiday-themed romantic drama Last Christmas, where he appears in the lead role opposite Emilia Clarke. His 2020 release includes The Gentlemen, directed by Guy Ritchie.
