The vivacious and stunning Jennifer Shrader Lawrence is an American actress who proved her mettle with a series of awards in her kitty, including the Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA. Lawrence has had an incredible journey from being a TV actress to one of the highest-paid and most successful movie actresses of her time. She was part of the sitcom The Bill Engvall Show and ensured success followed her with versatile performances in movies like Winter`s Bone, the X-Men series, The Hunger Games series, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and Joy. One of her most popular roles has been that of Katniss Everdeen for the film series The Hunger Games.

She has stood up on numerous occasions in support of women rights and feminism, and has also launched her charitable foundation, named Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, to support several charitable organizations.

Early Life
The Academy Award-winning actress was born on August 15, 1990, in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Her father, Gary Lawrence, had a concrete construction firm by the name Lawrence & Associates, while her mother, Karen, was a children`s camp manager. She was the youngest of all siblings, with Ben and Blaine being her elder brothers.

Lawrence has a mix of English, Irish, German, and Scottish ancestry. In Louisville, she studied at the Kammerer Middle School. She participated as a cheerleader in her school and was involved in sports like basketball, softball, and field hockey. She was very fond of horseback riding as well during her childhood days.

She started performing in school musicals and church plays from the age of nine. Lawrence was spotted by a talent scout in New York City when she was on her family vacation. The scout guided Jennifer to some agents, who auditioned her via some cold reads. Her performance was liked by the agents, but her mother was not too keen on her pursuing a career in acting without completing her education. She managed to convince her mother to allow her to audition for roles in Los Angeles and was home-schooled.

Personal Life
Lawrence first met Nicholas Hoult during the screen test for X-Men: First Class and soon the two were confirmed to be dating in 2011 when they made a public appearance at the 2011 SAG Awards after party together. The two split for a brief period after dating for two years only to get back again. However, owing to their busy schedules, the two called it quits in 2014. After being in a serious relationship with Hoult, the actor started dating the Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin in 2015. However, their relationship did not last very long, owing to Martin`s non-committal nature.

Movie Career
Jennifer Lawrence made her Hollywood debut with a supporting role in the movie Garden Party in 2008. The same year, she gained recognition for her performances in movies like The Poker House, for which she won the Outstanding Performance Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and The Burning Plain, for which she won the Best Emerging Actress at the Venice Film Festival. However, her first breakthrough performance came in the role of Ree Dolly for Winter`s Bone in 2010. Her performance was touted to be much more than just acting, and her performance won her first Academy Award nomination in the Best Actress category.

After appearing in a supporting role in the romantic drama Like Crazy, she was seen in the superhero film X-Men: First Class in 2011 release, which was her career`s first high-profile movie, and was cast alongside actors like Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. Her high-spirited performance as the mutant Mystique in the X-Men franchise movie won her several accolades.

The year 2012 was, perhaps, a path-breaking year for the X-Men star when she was seen on the big screen playing the role of Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist in The Hunger Games. For her role in the action fantasy movie, the actor had to undergo rigorous physical training, which included hand-to-hand combat techniques, yoga, archery, rock climbing, and tree climbing. The movie became a top grosser with worldwide revenues of over $690 million, making Lawrence the highest-grossing action actor of all time, as of 2012. It was only after this movie that Lawrence was considered to be a huge Hollywood star.The same year, she tasted success again with David O. Russell`s romantic comic flick Silver Linings Playbook, where she played the role of a young and depressed widow and was cast opposite Bradley Cooper. Lawrence created waves by winning the Golden Globe and Oscar awards for Best Actress category for her performance in the movie, which marked the beginning of a successful association between Lawrence and Russell.

She continued with the Hunger Games franchise and appeared in its second instalment titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which released in 2013 and earned $864.9 million. In 2013, she teamed up with her Silver Linings Playbook, David O. Russell, in the crime drama American Hustle, where she had a supporting role, playing the role of a con man`s neurotic voice. She won the BAFTA Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance. She also her first Oscar nomination in the Supporting Actress category and her third Oscar nomination.

She reprised her role of Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014, which went on to earn $748.1 million worldwide, declaring it a hit. She then played the titular role of Serena Pemberton in the Susanne Bier-directed Serena, which opened to mainly negative reviews and failed at the box office. Reprising her famous role of Katniss Everdeen, the actor next appeared in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, both of which became blockbuster hits worldwide. In the first part of the third instalment, she, apart from acting, also sang the song The Hanging Tree, which went on to list on multiple international single charts.

In 2015, Lawrence and director Russell came together for the third time with the biopic Joy, where she portrayed the character of a troubled single mother. Her performance won her another Golden Globe Award, and her fourth Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. The following year, she was seen in X-Men: Apocalypse, which, although was a commercial hit earning over $542 million worldwide, opened to mixed reviews from critics. Her 2017 release includes the sci-fi romantic movie Passengers.

Television Career
In 2006, Jennifer made her television debut with a minor role in the television movie Company Town. She followed it up with guest appearances on other television shows like Monk in 2006, Cold Case, and Medium both in 2007. After gaining recognition for her previous works, she bagged the role of Lauren in the television series The Bill Engvall Show. For her performance in this TV series, which ran from 2007 to 2009, she won the Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Performer in 2009.
