Dhansika is an Indian actress, who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. She made her debut with the Tamil movie Thirudi in 2006. Dhansika won her first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie
Paradesi (2013).

Dhansika was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
Movie Career
Although Dhansika made her acting debut with movie Thirudi in 2006, her role was uncredited. In the same year, she also starred in another movie Manathodu Mazhaikalam; her role in this movie was uncredited as well. It was only in 2009 that Dhansika got her first credit as an actor in the movie
Peranmai directed by
S.P. Janathan; this was Dhansika's first lead role. She went on to bag the lead roles in her next two movies in 2010. The first being
Maanja Velu directed by
A. Venkatesh. The movie was a hit at the box office; the second being
Nil Gavani Sellathey, directed by Anand Chakravarthy, starring Anand himself with
Jagan,
Lakshmi Nair, Adithyaa Dev and Ramsyy.
In 2012, she won the Edison Award for Most Daring Role for her performance in the movie
Aravaan directed by
Vasanthabalan. However, Dhansika's best act came with the 2013 movie
Paradesi. Based on real-life incidents that occurred in India in the 1930s, the movie received positive reviews at the box office. Dhansika's performance was highly appreciated by the audience and critics alike. The actress went on to win her first Filmfare Award and Vijay Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie.
After the much success of Paradesi, Dhansika later in the same year collaborated with director I. Rajasekaran for the comedy-drama Ya Ya co-starring Shiva, N. Santhanam and Sandhya. The film received mostly received critical reviews and turned out be an average earner at the box office. In her solitary release of 2016, the actress starred alongside the superstar of Tamil cinema Rajinikanth and Radhika Apte in the blockbuster Kabali directed by Pa. Ranjith. Her 2017 releases include Enga Aamma Rani, Kaalakkoothu, an action drama directed by M. Nagarajan.
