Thomas George Hooper, popularly known as Tom Hooper, is a British film and television director. He kick started his professional career by making Painted Faces, a short film which was broadcasted in 1992. After working on several plays and commercials, he directed TV shows like Quayside, Byker Grove and Cold Feet. Tom Hopper`s historical drama film The King`s Speech (2010) received 12 Academy Award nominations, out of which the movie won four awards including Best Picture and Best Actor. He also directed Les Miserables (2013) and Red Dust (2004), which was nominated for Directors Guild of America Award and the BAFTA Awards respectively. In 2015, he produced and directed the biographical romantic-drama film The Danish Girl, based on the 2000 novel of the same name. His 2019 project includes Cats, a musical fantasy film.
