British actor Benjamin John Whishaw, popularly known as Ben Whishaw, is familiar to movie lovers around the world courtesy of his roles in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) and the James Bond films Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). He started out on stage as a member of the Big Spirit Youth Theatre, and subsequently made his feature film debut with a supporting role in the independent war movie The Trench (1999). A couple of years into his film career, the actor bagged his first major accolade - a British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer - for his performance in My Brother Tom (2001).
Following his breakout role as a murderous perfume maker in the period psychological crime thriller Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), Whishaw has appeared in leading and supporting roles in several films, notably the musical drama
I`m Not There (2007), the romantic drama Bright Star (2009), the epic sci-fi mystery drama Cloud Atlas (2012) and the romantic drama The Danish Girl (2015). Besides films, the actor has also starred in tv shows like Criminal Justice, London Spy and The Hollow Crown, the last of which won him the BAFTA TV Award for Best Leading Actor in 2013. Paddington 2 (2018), the latter two of which feature him in the titular voice role.
