Joachim Ronning is a Norwegian director. For most of his career, he co-directed movies along with Espen Sandberg. The pair made their debut through Bandidas (2006), a movie starring Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek. Their 2012 Norwegian movie Kon-Tiki was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as well as for the Best Foreign Language Oscar during the 85th Academy Awards. The duo is known for directing Pirates of the Carribean: Salazar`s Revenge (2017), the fifth installment of the series. His 2019 releases include Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, one of his few solo directions.
