The man who epitomizes effortless elegance, M. Sasikumar is known to capture the heart and soul of the rural India in his films. The actor-director who made his debut with the low-budget film Subramaniapuram (2008), received wide critical acclaim for both his direction and acting. He went onto win the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Director as well was won a nomination at the Vijay Award for Best Supporting Actor. Following the huge success of his debut venture, Sasiskumar subsequently starred in many low-budget films.

Early Life
Born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Sasikumar completed his school from St. Peters School Kodaikanal and later went to Vellaichamy Nadar College to pursue his degree in business administration. Sasikumar`s entered the film industry by assisting his uncle Kandasaamy who was the producer of the Vikram starrer blockbuster film Sethu (1999). He later learned the nuances of film director by working as assistant director to director Ameer in his films like Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002) and Raam (2005). It was in 2007 when Sasikumar was assisting Ameer in his film Paruthi Veeran (2007) that he started doing ground work for his maiden directorial venture Subramaniapuram and left the film midway to focus on his project.

Personal Life
Sasikumar is married and he has two children, a son and a daughter. In an interview, he stated that he wants his family life to be kept under wraps because it would invade their privacy.

Movie Career
As an Actor
After assisting director Ameer in his films, M. Sasikumar made his debut on the silver screen with the Tamil-language period drama Subramaniapuram (2008). The low-budget film, which was shot in just 85 days went onto be become a sleeper hit. Co-starring Jai, Samuthirakani, Swathi and Ganja Karuppu in important roles, the film also marked Sasikumar`s debut as a director. Following the huge success of his debut film, much was expected from his second film Naadodigal (2009) and Sasikumar did not disappoint his fans, he delivered yet another stellar performance, which won him a nomination at the Vijay Awards for Favorite Hero.

In 2010, the actor made his debut in a Telugu film with the action drama Shambo Shiva Shambo where he had a special appearance. The film directed by the acclaimed director Samuthirakani featured Ravi Teja, Allari Naresh, Siva Balaji and Priyamani in pivotal roles. The following year, he starred in the Tamil film Poraali, which won him the Best Actor Award at the Norway Tamil Film Festival. The actor made his debut in a Malayalam film with Masters (2012), an action thriller directed by Johny Antony. The film co-starring Prithviraj, Mukesh and Pia Bajpai mostly got positive critical reviews and also fared well at the box office. Post 2012, the actor focused working only in Tamil industry and over the years has featured in films like Kutti Puli (2013), Appa (2016) and Balle Vellaiya Thevaa (2016), most of which fared well at the box office.

In 2017, Sasikumar starred in the titular role in the action drama Kodiveeran, which opened to mixed critical reception. The action thriller Asuravadham was the actor`s sole release in 2018, and received generally positive reviews upon its release. Other significant acting credits in recent times include the Rajinikanth starrer Petta (2019), Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019) and Naadodigal 2 (2019). His 2020 release includes Naadodigal 2.

M. Sasikumar made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed and the commercially hit Subramaniapuram (2008). After the huge success of his debut venture, Sasikumar subsequently directed Easan (2010).
