An alumnus of the renowned Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York, Brazilian-American actress Morena Baccarin is best known for her Emmy Award-nominated performance in the spy thriller series Homeland (2011-) and for essaying the role of Vanessa Carlysle in the superhero film Deadpool (2015). She made her feature film debut with the improvised indie movie Perfume (2001), while the space Western drama television series Firefly (2002-03) marked Baccarin`s television debut.
Following guest appearances in popular shows like It`s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005-) and How I Met Your Mother (2005-14), the actress rose to prominence courtesy of her portrayal of the villainous Adria in military sci-fi adventure series Stargate SG-1 (1997-2007) and Inara in the sci-fi action film
Serenity (2005). The Golden Globe-winning spy thriller show Homeland marked a major turning point in Baccarin`s career. Her portrayal of the character Jessica Brody in the series received much critical acclaim, and earner her a Primetime Emmy Awards nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2013.
In 2015, Baccarin essayed the role of Vanessa Carlysle, the love interest of Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool) in the superhero movie
Deadpool. Besides being well-received by the critics, Deadpool went on to become a phenomenal box office success and established Baccarin as an internationally recognised actress. She has since reprised the role in the sequel
