The former Miss Kolkata, Rachna Banerjee, born as Jhumjhum Banerjee, is an Indian actress who primarily works in the Bengali film industry. After winning the beauty contest in 1994, Rachna made her acting debut with the Bengali movie Daan Protidan. It was director Sukhen Das who gave her the name Rachana after her debut movie. The same year she also made her Odia film debut with the movie Pathara Khasuchi Bada Deulu. Rajmohol (2005), Tulkalam (2007), Lakshyabhed (2009), and Ramdhanu – The Rainbow are few of the popular Bengali movies of the actress. Rachana has also appeared in several Kannada, Tamil and Telugu language movies such as Vaimaye Vellum (1997), Kanyadanam (1998), and Preethsu Thappenilla (2002). She has also been the host of Didi No. 1, a popular Bengali non-fiction TV show. Her 2017 release includes the movie Hothat Ekdin.
