With his previous two films, the adult comedies, Hara Hara Mahadevaki and Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu, Santhosh P Jayakumar earned a name as a hit filmmaker. Now, with Ghajinikanth, a remake of the Telugu hit, Bale Bale Magadivoy, he attempts a comedy for the general audience. Ghajinikanth is a typical comic entertainer which has its moments of fun. However, it is predictable at every turn and is too long for a situational comedy. The film is a frame-to-frame remake of Telugu director Marutis Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, which became a super hit thanks to the terrific comic timing of Nani. Ghajinikanths director Santhosh P Jayakumar has two films in his filmography Hara Hara Mahadevaki and Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu. The two films have a lot in common adult content, double meaning jokes and an A rating. Arya-starrer Ghajinikanth belongs to the second category. It scores purely because of its moderately written comedy but this is not the kind of comedy that makes you think. It is a slapstick comedy that will have you laughing every now and then.
