SYNOPSIS
Mr. Peabody & Sherman is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated comedy adventure film based on the characters from the Peabody`s Improbable History segments of the 1960s animated television series The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

The film features Mr. Peabody, a talking dog who is the smartest being in the world, and his adopted boy Sherman. When Sherman`s misuse of their time traveling WABAC machine results in disastrous and comical results, it is up to them to put things on track before the space-time continuum is irreparably destroyed.

Based on a recurrent segment from the late 1950s/early 60s TV series The Bullwinkle Show, this heavily trailed animation looks like a very wobbly idea indeed; a young boy, adopted by a super-intelligent dog, embarking on adventures through history with the aid of a homemade time-travelling machine. Images of the dismal Free Birds leap to mind.Pleasant to report, then, that DreamWorks` latest offers a fairly consistent stream of sight gags and vocal slapstick, even as the plot veers wildly down a wormhole in the time-space continuum. Like any father, he wants his son to be smart and knowledgeable. To help him know about the history of the world, he builds a time machine, taking them to various eras in time. However, the spin in the story comes when Sherman finds another use to Mr. Peabody`s invention, which gets him into trouble. ...Read full review
Preceding its US release by a whole month to capture that crucial half-term audience in Britain, Mr. Peabody & Sherman an action-heavy animation comedy with a time-travel plot proves strong enough to justify the strategy. Its sweet-natured and amusing, with a story to captivate kids; yet the script has enough witty touches to keep adults laughing too.The films two lead characters are an odd couple. Mr Peabody (Ty Burrell) is a wealthy dog, and a remarkable one: an inspired inventor, masterchef, multi-linguist and mathematical genius, with a patrician voice, a pedantic manner and a weakness for puns. His mischievous adopted human son Sherman (Max Charles) shines at school; Peabodys influence has rubbed off ...Read full review
