About the movie
In 1942 British India, Harnam (Pran) betrays a freedom fighter, and as a result is rewarded, but the freedom fighter is killed, leaving his wife, Ganga (Kamini Kaushal) and family devastated. Proud of his father`s courage, his son Bharat (Manoj Kumar) has an inbuilt sense of pride for India. When he goes to Britain to pursue his education, he realizes the huge culture gap that exists between the Indians living there with some of them even being ashamed of acknowledging their roots. When he falls in love with Prithi, a girl with the same NRI mindset, he takes it upon himself to change the way she looks at India.
