About the movie
The film is based on the novel Secretariat: The Making of a Champion by William Nack and is about a housewife with little knowledge of horse racing who rears one of the greatest race horses of all time.
Penny Chenery is a devoted housewife whose sick father is the proprietor of Meadow Stables. When her father grows old and is unable to tend his horses, the inexperienced Penny agrees to take over the stables. In desperation, she requests veteran horse trainer Lucien Laurin to help her. With Lucien helping her, Penny prepares to break into the male bastion of horse racing. As Secretariat leaves his competition in the dust, a legend is born!
