Well-known for the romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu, Aanand L. Rai is an Indian director and producer. Inspired by his brother who directed television shows, he too made a foray into the entertainment industry through directing TV shows. He then decided to take a sabbatical to explore something more and directed the movie Strangers in 2005, which went unnoticed. His breakthrough in cinema came with the film Tanu Weds Manu (2011), after which he founded his own production house called Colour Yellow Productions. He then directed Dhanush`s Bollywood debut Raanjhanaa in 2013, before he directed the sequel to Tanu Weds Manu, Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015). His 2018 project includes Manmarziyan and Tumbbad. His other releases include Laal Kaptaan and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.
