Michael Pitt is an American actor, model, and musician, best known for his roles in the movies The Dreamers (2003), Funny Games (2007), and The Village (2004). The actor is also a popular television artist with successful roles on the TV shows Creek, Boardwalk Empire, and Hannibal.

Personal Life
Pitt was engaged to actress Asia Argento for a few months in 2004. The following year, in 2005, Pitt announced that he was engaged to the model Jamie Bochert.

Television Career
Pitt started his acting career in 1997 with the TV show Dellaventura. However, his first prominent role came with the TV series Dawson`s Creek wherein he starred as Henry Parker. In the next decade, he guest-starred in just two TV shows - Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2002) and T Takes (2008). It was only in 2010, that he starred in a substantial role in HBO`s successful crime drama Boardwalk Empire. Essaying the character of Jimmy Darmody, Pitt was associated with the show for 24 episodes and was also nominated for multiple awards including the Critics` Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. In 2014, the actor appeared in three episodes of the TV show - Hannibal and was also nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Guest Starring Role on Television.

Movie Career
Pitt began his movie career with the 1998 movie Hi-Life. In the next few years, he appeared in minor roles in the movies Finding Forrester (2000), Bully and The Yellow Bird - both these movies released in 2001. However, he appeared in his breakthrough role as Tommy Gnosis in John Cameron Mitchell`s Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Pitt received acclaim for his performance as the lover of a transgender rock star and went on to bag supporting roles in several movies: the first of them being the psychological thriller Murder by Numbers (2002) directed by Barbet Schroeder. The movie starring Sandra Bullock and Ben Chaplin was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. A couple of years later he starred in M. Night Shyamalan`s The Village essaying the role of Finton Coin. In the next few years he was seen in the movies Jailbait (2004). Delirious (2006), and The Hawk is Dying (2006).

One of Pitt`s most prominent roles came in 2007 with Michael Haneke`s psychological thriller Funny Games which opened to mixed reviews. However, Pitt received a Chainsaw Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the movie as Paul. In the same year, he starred in the role of Herve Joncour opposite Keira Knightley in the movie Silk. In 2014, he was seen in the Rob the Mob, a crime drama film directed by Raymond de Felitta. In the following year, he starred alongside John Travolta, Dan Stevens, Christopher Abbott, and Ron Brown. His 2017 release includes the sci-fi action movie Ghost in the Shell directed by Rupert Sanders.

As a Producer
In 2014, Pitt turned producer with the movie I Origins directed by Mike Cahill. The sci-fi drama film in which Pitt starred as well won the Best Feature Length Film Award at the Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantastic de Catalunya in 2014. He next co-wrote and produced the movie You Can`t Win (2016).

As a Director
In 2015, Pitt wrote and directed the short film The Driver.
