An American TV and film actor, Ronald RJ Cyler II, better known by his screen name RJ Cyler is best remembered for playing the role of Earl in the 2015 film Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger in the 2017 American superhero film Power Rangers.

Early Life
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Cyler is the son of Katina Cyler who worked as a household cook and Ronald Cyler, a truck driver. The youngest of the three siblings, Cyler grew up in extremely tough economic family conditions. Although his parents were working, they struggled to make ends meet and they had to sell everything they had to move from Florida to California in 2013. The family was homeless until their condition improved when Cyler bagged a role in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

Movie Career
After making his acting in a short film titled Second Chances in 2013, Cyler got his major breakthrough in 2015 as he bagged a lead role in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, an American comedy-drama directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. The film co-starring Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke and Nick Offerman premiered at the Sundance Film Festival where it got a standing ovation. Upon its theatrical release, the film garnered wide positive reviews and won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic and the Audience Award for U.S. Drama and Cyler for his brilliant performance was nominated for the San Diego Film Critics Society Award for Best Supporting Actor and Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer.

After the much success of his debut feature film, Cyler next starred in the American superhero film Power Rangers (2017). The film directed by Dean Israelite is based on the TV series of the same name and it also features Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Becky G and Ludi Lin in the lead roles. Upon its theatrical release in the US, the film got mixed reviews from critics and it did average business at the box office. His other release of the year includes War Machine, an American war film directed by David Michod.

TV Career
The actor made his debut on the small screen with the popular American TV comedy series Vice Principals (2016) where he played the role of Luke Brown.
