Shane Nigam is an Indian movie actor who is popular for his film appearances predominantly in Malayalam cinema. He is well-known for his excellent work in movies like
Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (2013),
Kammatipaadam (2016), and
Kismath (2016).
Early life
Shane is the son of actor and mimicry artist Abbi Habeeb, who is known for his comedic roles in films. He studied at Bhavans Vidya Mandir (Elamakkara), Ernakulam, and then pursued engineering at Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology, Kochi.
Television career
Shane forayed into the entertainment industry when he was just 12 years old as the contestant of Amrita TV`s reality show Super Dancer Junior in 2007. His popularity on the show got him cast in the television series Hello Kuttichathan in 2008 aired on Asianet, in which he portrayed the role of Vivek Vishwanathan. This show was dubbed in Tamil as Hello Kuttichathan aired on Vijay TV. Shane also reprised his role of Vivek Vishwanathan in the show`s second season Hello Kuttichathan 2 in 2010 aired on Asianet.
Movie career
Shane made his silver screen debut as a child artist in 2010 with the Malayalam film
Thanthonni. He portrayed the childhood of Prithviraj`s character Kochukunju in the film, directed by
George Varghese. In the same year, Shane had an uncredited role in director
Amal Neerad`s action-thriller Anwar, once again with Prithviraj as the protagonist. This film received positive reviews and was dubbed in Tamil and Hindi languages. Shane was next seen in the 2013 film Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi in the role of Shyam.This thriller road film starred
Dulquer Salmaan,
Dhritiman Chatterjee, and
Sunny Wayne in the lead. In the same year, he was seen in the
Fahadh Faasil -
Andrea Jeremiah starrer romance film
Annayum Rasoolum as Andrea`s hot-tempered brother Kunjumon. This movie revolves around the love story of a Muslim taxi driver and a Christian girl, and was a commercial success at the box office.
In 2014, he was cast in In 2014, he was cast in
Balyakalasakhi, film adaptation of the novel of the same name, which starred Mammootty, Isha Talwar, and Meena in lead roles. Shane played Mammootty`s childhood character in the film. He then worked in another Dulquer Salman starrer crime-drama film Kammatipaadam in 2016. Shane gained prominence as the boy who stabbed Dulquer`s character in the movie. The film was directed by Rajeev Ravi and revolves around the plight of the Dalit community after they were forced to give up their land for urbanization.,
After a string of supporting roles, Shane made his lead role debut in 2016 with the romantic drama film
Kismath, under the direction of Shanavas K Bavakkutty. He played the role of a young Muslim boy who falls in love with an older Hindu girl portrayed by
Shruthy Menon, and how their families react to their relationship forms the crux of the film. Shane`s 2017 project includes director
Antony Sony`s
