Vidya Sinha was an Indian actress, born in 1947 in Mumbai. She began her career as a model and was crowned Miss Bombay at the age f 18. Through her modeling work, she was discovered by the film director Basu Chatterjee. She made her debut with the movie Raja Kaka (1974) but she became a renowned face through Chatterjee`s film Rajnigandha (1974). Her career took off and she worked on more than 30 movies over a period of ten years. Her best known films include Choti Si Baat (1975) and Pati Patni Aur Woh (1977). She has worked alongside big names including Shashi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Vinod Khanna, and Shabana Azmi. After a hiatus from acting, in the early 2000s, she returned to acting for television. Some of her TV shows include Bahu Rani (2000), Kavyanjali (2004) and Qubool Hai (2012-2015). Her last film was Salman Khan`s Bodyguard (2011). In August 2019, in a Mumbai hospital, Vidya passed away due to respiratory failure.
