One of the most popular TV personalities of the world, James Christian Kimmel is an American comedian, television host, writer and producer. Before gaining wide acclaim with his own late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he was known for co-hosting The Man Show, aired on Comedy Central. Apart from producing his own talk show, Kimmel has also produced several other shows such as The Andy Milonakis Show and Crank Yankers.

Early Life
Kimmel was born to James John Kimmel, an IBM executive, and Joan, a homemaker. Eldest among his two brothers, Kimmel went to the Ed W. Clark High School and later for a year attended the University of Nevada. Following which he attended the Arizona State of University for two years. However, he could not manage to obtain a degree.

Personal Life
Kimmel married Gina Maddy in 1988 and have two children - Kevin (born 1991) and Katherine (born 1993). After 14 years of marriage, the couple got divorced in 2002. In the same year, Kimmel started dating the comedian Sarah Silverman. Kimmel and Silverman remained together until 2009. After his break up with Silverman, Kimmel got into a relationship with the comedian Molly McNearney, the then co-head writer for Jimmy. The couple got engaged in 2012: marrying in July 2013. The couple welcomed their first child Jane, born on July 10, 2014.

Radio Career
While he was still attending high school, Kimmel began hosting a Sunday night interview show on UNLV’s (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) college radio station KUNV. He later gained popularity as a caller to the show hosted by Kent Voss and Mike Elliott on KZZP-FM. It was only in 1989, that he got his first job as the co-host (along with Voss) of The Me and Him Show at KZOK-FM in Seattle. However, only 10 months, Voss and Kimmel were fired by KZOK. They then went on to work with WRBQ-FM but were fired from there was well. This incident led to the formation of his own talk show at KCMJ FM in Palm Springs. He later worked with the KRQQ_FM in Los Angeles.

TV Career
Kimmel’s TV career began with the game show Win Ben Stein’s Money, wherein he appeared as the co-host alongside Ben Stein. His ‘everyman’ personality and quick wit with Stein’s monotonous vocal style turned out to be a successful combination and the duo won the Emmy Award for the Best Game Show Host. While he was associated with Win Ben Stein’s Money, Kimmel also co-hosted and co-produced The Man Show, aired on Comedy Central in 1999. Following the success of the show, Kimmel later created and produced Crank Yankers. He also co-wrote co-produced the TV movie Windy City Heat, which won the Comedia Award for Best Film at the Montreal Comedy Festival.

It was only in 2003 that Jimmy Kimmel quit The Man Show and came up with his own late-night talks show - Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which would go on to become one of the most successful talk shows in the world. However, in 2004, the censors failed to bleep censor the swearing that happened during the episode starring Thomas Jane. After this incident, the show was never aired live. As of 2017, the show is ABC’s longest-running show - 14 years. He has made guest appearances on several shows including Scandal (2012), The Middle (2014), Trailer Park Boys (2016), and Pitch (2016).

Kimmel has also been the host of several other shows including American Music Awards (2003), Set for Life (2007), 2007 ESPY Awards (2007), 64th Primetime Emmy Awards (2012), and 68th Primetime Emmy Awards (2016). In 2017, he hosted the 89th Academy Awards.

Movie Career
Kimmel has mainly appeared in cameo roles in movies such as The Aristocrats (2005), Project X (2012), and Ted 2 (2015). In 2017, he voiced the character of ‘Father’ in the animated movie The Boss Baby directed by Tom McGrath.
