Touted as one of the best actors in the Telugu film industry, Nithiin has successfully proved his exemplary acting skills right from his debut movie Jayam (2002), and swept away the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut - South for his performance in the film. Two of his other movies Sri Anjaneyam and Sye in 2004, in which he played lead roles, won him the Santosham Best Young Performers Award, widening his popularity among Telugu movie audiences. Apart from being a talented actor, Nithiin has also tried his hands on playback singing, and has produced a few movies as part of his career.

Early Life
Nithiin was born in Hyderabad to film producer and distributor Sudhakar Reddy and Vidhya Reddy, a homemaker. He has one sister Nikitha Reddy, who is also a film producer. With his father in the movie business, Nithiin developed a strong interest in films from a very young age, which eventually lead him to take up acting as a career. He went to Geetanjali School in Begumpet and later studied at the Ratna College, Narayanguda, when he decided to enter the film industry.

Movie Career
Nithiin entered the movie industry by playing the male lead in the Telugu film Jayam (2002) opposite Sadha and Gopichand, which turned out to be a superhit at the box office. In the movie, he plays the role of Venkat, a poor yet charming young boy who falls in love with a girl whose marriage is fixed with a good-for-nothing boy Raghu. Nithiin's performance in the movie as an innocent boy who emerges successful in his love won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut - South. The huge success of the first movie was followed by two other box office hits in the next year 2003 - Dil and Sambaram. Seen in lead roles in both the movies, their success helped Nithiin cement his position in the film industry. He gave an award-winning performance in his very next release Sri Anjaneyam in 2004, under the direction of Krishna Vamsi. It saw him play as one of the leads opposite Arjun Sarja and Charmme Kaur, and his portrayal of the character Anji won him the Santosham Best Young Performers Award. Prominent director S.S. Rajamouli's action sports drama Sye was the actor's other release in 2004, revolving around rugby, in which Nithiin plays a student with a keen interest in rugby and how his passion for the sport helps him save the land of his college. This movie too was a box office hit.

In 2005 came the actor's first dual role in the moderately successful movie Allari Bullodu opposite Trisha and Rathi, followed by another average grosser Dhairyam in the same year. After releases like Raam (2006) and Takkari (2007), his 2008 movies Aatadista opposite Kajal Aggarwal, and director G. V. Sudhakar Naidu's Hero alongside Bhavana, both received only mixed reviews. In 2009, he starred in director J. Karun Kumar's movie Drona as the son of an honest police officer but is forced to become a thief after being abducted. This movie, which starred Priyamani as the female lead, also fared only moderately at the box office. The same year marked Nithiin's entry into Bollywood with a lead role in the horror film Agyaat, under the direction of Ram Gopal Varma. Featuring Priyanka Kothari and Gautam Rode as the other leads, the movie only received mixed reviews, not gaining much popularity for the actor among Bollywood audiences. He was then cast by director Parachuri Murali in Rechipo, once again as a thief, opposite actress Ileana D'Cruz.

Nithiin's next big film was the romantic drama Ishq in 2012, in which he played the role of Rahul who meets Priya (Nithya Menen) in a flight to Hyderabad, and the two fall for each other when they unexpectedly get to spend an entire day together in Goa. This Vikram Kumar's directorial venture received positive critical reviews and was declared a box office hit. For the film, Nithiin also was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor - Telugu. His next movie Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (2013), in which he played the role of a carefree boy, also got him nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor - Telugu. The romantic comedy drama Heart Attack under the direction of Puri Jagannadh, was his next movie opposite Adah Sharma as the female lead, which received mixed reviews from critics. Later, he was seen in the moderately successful film Chinnadana Nee Kosam directed by A. Karunakaran, followed by the role of a courier boy in the romantic thriller Courier Boy Kalyan, under the direction of Premsai. Nithiin then featured opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the romantic comedy A Aa, which received several accolades as well as nominations in varied categories at the 64th Filmfare Awards South and 2nd IIFA Utsavam Awards.

Nithiin's 2017 release includes the Telugu movie LIE (Love Intelligence Enmity), under the direction of Hanu Raghavapudi, opposite Megha Akash as the female lead and Arjun Sarja as the antagonist.
