Anushka Shetty-starrer Bhaagamathie is the latest addition in the warehouse of Telugu films that feature a dilapidated house, a young woman haunted by a ghost, jump scare moments, a gut-wrenching backstory, and finally a message about the evil men lurking in the society. But its also a film that finds an interesting way to address socio-political issues within the realms of horror-thriller genre and goes into a zone which other films hardly explore. ...Read full review

Anushka is seen portraying two contrasting roles and what eerie similarities that connect both characters forms the films core point. The spooky trailer with spine chilling elements have set a high bar on the film. The rich production values by UV Creations and the strong technical bravura are likely to be the selling points for this film which is directed by Ashok. ...Read full review
The story of Bhaagamathie, starring Anushka Shetty, is nothing like what was suggested by the filmmakers through the theatrical trailer and the nightmarish posters. It was supposed to keep the audience on the edge-of-the-seat with a spine-chilling backstory of the central character Bhaagamathie, a ghost from the past century. ...Read full review
The latest incarnation of the haunted-house movie is titled Bhaagamathie and its at least a little different from others of its ilk. Its a haunted-palace movie. The police force, though, prefer to call the mansion a guest house. Its in the middle of a forest, and its where a convict named Sanchala (Anushka Shetty, whose statuesque presence does more for these parts than her performance) is being taken for interrogation. (The police suspect that this former IAS officer knows something about antiques being smuggled out of the country.) As Sanchala is being taken there, an ominous crow trails them. ...Read full review
