SYNOPSIS
A hidden loot of 500 million rupees sends a bunch of eccentric folks on a madcap misadventure, where they all vie to get their hands on the money. Among these are a bickering couple, two dim-witted siblings, some seasoned conmen, a greedy police officer and the mastermind of the loot itself. Will any of them actually hit the jackpot at the end of it all?

Given the ensemble cast, this film had the potential to be a comic roller coaster ride. However, the fact that the film is slapstick is not a problem, what brings it down is poor writing and execution.

Thankfully, director Indra Kumar has taken recourse to slapstick rather than double entendre jokes, risque scenes, as well as toilet humour and that`s a good thing. It`s a comedy which you can watch with your entire family, as also with children. In fact, it would be safe to say that the film is primarily aimed at children, who will enjoy its cartoonish climax.

I want to say here that Im not against comedies that require complete suspension of disbelief. But even that requires thought, clever writing, and a lightness of touch. Total Dhamaal has none of those things. Its a cash-grab film that believes bigger is better. Alas its not. From multiple remix songs, to the low-IQ racist and sexist humour, and a reliance on familiar gags and tropes, this is lazy, cynical filmmaking.
