Early Life
Born in Wandsworth, London to an actress-turned-teacher mother Joanna, and a barrister father, Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, Blunt is the second of four children. She had a stammer since she was eight years old and would often suffer from low self-esteem. At age 12, Blunt`s school teacher, in an attempt to help her solve her problem, asked her to portray a character, but with a different accent. Blunt used the northern accent, and it did the trick, her speech defect disappeared.
She repeatedly used acting to overcome her stutter and was discovered by a casting agent while performing in a school play. When Blunt was 18, she made her debut on the London stage opposite Dame Judi Dench in The Royal Family. For her performance, she was named the "Best Newcomer" by The Evening Standard.
Personal Life
Blunt began dating the Canadian singer Michael Buble in 2005. They even moved in together, before breaking up in 2008.
In 2010, she married
John Krasinski, an actor, who she met through her friend Anne Hathway. The couple has two daughters: Hazel, born in 2014, and Violet, born in 2016.
Movie Career
Blunt first appeared on screen in 2003, in the British Television drama Boudica. After receiving rave reviews for her performance in the series, she went on to do shows such as Henry VIII (2003) and The Strange Case of Sherlock Holmes & Arthur Conan Doyle (2005). Amidst this, Blunt made feature film debut in My Summer of Love. Based on the novel by the same name, the movie follows the story of two young women who fall in love with each other and have a fling. Blunts bold portrayal won her many accolades from critics and viewers alike.
Emily Blunt bagged her first Golden Globe Award for playing the troubled child of a New York-based doctor in the TV movie Gideon`s Daughter, which was theatrically released in 2006. In the same year, she starred in David Frankel`s runaway hit The
