Emily Olivia Leah Blunt popular as Emily Blunt is a British-American actress, who started her career with theater, where her performances were hailed by the critics. She made her on-screen debut in 2003 with a British television drama called Boudica. Blunt has also starred in movies like The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Dan in Real Life (2007), The Young Victoria (2009), The Wolfman (2010), The Muppets (2011), and Into the Woods (2014).

Early Life
Born in Wandsworth, London to an actress-turned-teacher mother Joanna, and a barrister father, Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, Blunt is the second of four children. She had a stammer since she was eight years old and would often suffer from low self-esteem. At age 12, Blunt`s school teacher, in an attempt to help her solve her problem, asked her to portray a character, but with a different accent. Blunt used the northern accent, and it did the trick, her speech defect disappeared.

She repeatedly used acting to overcome her stutter and was discovered by a casting agent while performing in a school play. When Blunt was 18, she made her debut on the London stage opposite Dame Judi Dench in The Royal Family. For her performance, she was named the "Best Newcomer" by The Evening Standard.

Personal Life
Blunt began dating the Canadian singer Michael Buble in 2005. They even moved in together, before breaking up in 2008.
In 2010, she married John Krasinski, an actor, who she met through her friend Anne Hathway. The couple has two daughters: Hazel, born in 2014, and Violet, born in 2016.

Movie Career
Blunt first appeared on screen in 2003, in the British Television drama Boudica. After receiving rave reviews for her performance in the series, she went on to do shows such as Henry VIII (2003) and The Strange Case of Sherlock Holmes & Arthur Conan Doyle (2005). Amidst this, Blunt made feature film debut in My Summer of Love. Based on the novel by the same name, the movie follows the story of two young women who fall in love with each other and have a fling. Blunts bold portrayal won her many accolades from critics and viewers alike.

Emily Blunt bagged her first Golden Globe Award for playing the troubled child of a New York-based doctor in the TV movie Gideon`s Daughter, which was theatrically released in 2006. In the same year, she starred in David Frankel`s runaway hit The Devil Wears Prada. Based on Lauren Weisberg`s best-selling book of the same name, the movie starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, an editor of an influential magazine, and Anne Hathway, as Andrea Sachs, Miranda`s second assistant. Emily Blunt, who played an important role in the film received a Golden Globe nomination for the Best Supporting Actress.

In 2007 and 2008, Blunt appeared in critically acclaimed films like Dan in Real Life, Charlie Wilson`s War, Sunshine Cleaning and The Great Buck Howard. In the following year, Blunt played the titular role in the 2009 period drama movie The Young Victoria. She then starred in mainstream films like The Wolfman (2010), The Adjustment Bureau (2011), The Muppets (2011), Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2012), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), in which Blunt co-paired with the Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise and Wild Mountain Thyme (2020)

Her second release in 2014 was the musical Into The Woods. Directed by Rob Marshall, the movie starred Meryl Streep, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski and Johnny Depp. Blunt received a Golden Globe nomination her role in the movie. Her 2016 releases include the dark fantasy adventure film The Huntsman: Winter`s War, and mystery thriller film The Girl on the Train. Blunt`s next blockbuster was A Quiet Place, the critically acclaimed horror movie written and directed by her husband John Krasinski, who also starred alongside her. She then went on to portray the iconic Mary Poppins in the sequel to the 1984 film, Mary Poppins Returns. Her 2021 releases include A Quiet Place - Part 2. She then featured Jungle Cruise (2021), Oppenheimer (2023), Pain Hustlers (2023) and The Fall Guy (2024).
