About
The Filmfare and National Film Award winning actress, Parineeti Chopra made her silver screen debut, in a supporting role, with Maneesh Sharma`s Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. She then went on to star in movies like Ishaqzaade (2012), and Shuddh Desi Romance (2013). Parineeti is also associated with leading brands such as Kurkure, Nivea, Maaza and Spinz, WeChat, Pantene and Mahindra scooty.

Early Life
Born in Ambala, Haryana to Pawan Chopra, a businessman, and Reena Chopra, a homemaker, Parineeti wanted to become an investment banker since a very young age. After shifting to London, at the age of 17, Parineeti received a triple honors degree in business, finance, and economics from Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti`s first cousin and also a Bollywood star, introduced her to Yash Raj Films` public relation department, where she interned before getting into films. Parineeti never wanted to become an actor and didn`t understand the nuances of being in the fraternity. Her outlook changed greatly after she saw her sister in 7 Khoon Maaf, and got inspired to become an actress.

Movie Career
Parineeti Chopra broke into the industry in 2011 with the Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma starrer rom-com Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Parineeti, who was cast in a supporting role, alongside Dipannita Sharma, and Aditi Sharma, bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for essaying Dimple Chaddha, a Delhi girl, conned by Ranveer Singh.

Post her successful debut, she was signed by Yash Raj to play the lead opposite debutant Arjun Kapoor in Habib Faisal`s romantic drama Ishaqzaade (2012), based on Shakespeare`s Romeo and Juliet. The movie went on to become a huge hit, both critically as well as commercially, with Parineeti taking home the coveted National Film Award, for portraying the fierce and young Zoya Qureshi. In the subsequent year, Parineeti Chopra appeared along with Sushant Singh Rajput and the then debutant Vaani Kapoor in the coming-of-age romantic drama Shuddh Desi Romance. The movie opened to average reviews, but Parineeti got praises from all quarters, calling her performance effortless. She also received her third Filmfare Award nomination for Shuddh Desi Romance.

The year 2014 saw Parineeti in three back to back releases- Hasee Toh Phasee, Daawat-e-Ishq, and Kill Dil. Unfortunately, all the three films bombed at the box office, without doing much to uplift her career. After a break of three years from the movies, Parineeti Chopra will be seen opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Meri Pyaari Bindu, and opposite Ajay Devgn in Golmaal Again, which is the fourth installment of the Golmaal series. She later appeared in films like Namaste England (2018), Kesari (2019) and Jabariya Jodi (2019). Her 2021 releases include The Girl on the Train, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Saina. Her other notable works include Code Name: Tiranga (2022), Uunchai (2022) and Capsule Gill (2023).

  • Personal Quotes (3)

  • ""I always speak my mind. When I talk to someone, I speak bluntly. I don’t like to filter things. People usually tell me how you can talk to someone without thinking anything. But I am like that only and I won’t change.""
  • ""I don’t think I am a star at all. I think it comes with too many years in the profession. It will be absolutely stupid if I think or say I am a star. According to me, a star is a person who can’t walk on the streets. Salman Khan, for me, is a star. An Amitabh Bachchan, who has probably not walked the streets of Juhu in the last 50 years... that, to me, is a star.""
  • ""People are not real here (in the film industry). It’s my biggest disappointment. I thought it was a myth when people said that friendships are superficial here. But everyone is insecure and rightly so. We are dependent on our audiences for appreciation. There’s a lot of competition and because of that relationships turn fickle. But I don’t blame them. Maybe others think I’m not genuine.""
