About the movie
Amitabh Bachan plays the retired Shakespearean theatre actor who triumphs Shakspeare`s works above all cinema and literature. The movie, in flashback mode, captures the moods, relationships, and performance of Harish, along with budding actress Shabnam (Preity Zinta) and Vandana (Shefali Shah), his caretaker. Written and directed by Rituparno Ghosh, The Last Lear runs in English and is touted to set a trend of sorts.
