A popular Indian model and actress, Deeksha Seth rose to fame with her participation in the Femina Miss India in 2009 where she was one of the finalists. After a successful run in the modelling industry, Deeksha ventured out to act in films and she made her debut with the Telugu film Vedam in 2010. Her other popular films include Wanted (2011), Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara? (2012), Jaggu Dada (2016) and Saat Kadam (2016).
Born in Delhi, India Deeksha was raised in a typical middle-class family. Her father who worked with ITC was often transferred to different places due to which her family shifted to different places like Chennai, Kolkata, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Kathmandu, Nepal. She did her initial schooling in Chennai till Class three and then became a boarder of Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer after which she joined a college in Mumbai. Deeksha Seth said that she never wanted to become an actress, instead, she aspired to be an underwater archaeologist.
Deeksha was in her first year of college when during a NSS event she was noticed by a Femina Miss India official and asked her to join modelling and participate in the contest. She made her portfolio with the help of her father`s friend and though she had no experience in modelling she was one of the finalist in top ten and she went onto win `Miss Fresh Face` title. During one of her modelling assignments in Hyderabad, she was noticed by a casting director of the Telugu film Vedam approached her to attend the audition for the film.
Deeksha, even though inexperienced she attended the audition and she beat 70 other girls to bag the lead role in Vedam alongside Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun, Manoj Bajpayee and Manoj Manchu. Upon release in theatres, the film garnered wide critical praise as well as emerged to be a commercial hit; it grossed more than 25 crore at the box office. Following the success of the film, the actress next starred in the Hari Shankar directed acting comedy film Mirapakay. The film co-starring Ravi Teja, Richa Gangopadhyay and Prakash Raj released in January 2011. The film got highly positive reviews and emerged to be commercial blockbuster. In the same year, the actress collaborated with directorB.V.S. Ravi for the Wanted opposite Gopichand. Upon its release the film failed miserably at the box office and even the Tamil dubbed version titled Vengai Puli also was a commercial disaster.
The same year, the actress made her debut in the Tamil film tile Rajapattai directed by Suseenthiran. The film, which revolves around the issue of land grabbing also featured Vikram and K. Vishwanath in the lead roles. The film received mostly negative reviews and failed at the box office. In 2012, the actress had three releases, Nippu, Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara? and Rebel directed by Raghava Lawrence. Two years later, director Arif Ali cast Deeksha seth in the Hindi-language film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, which marked her debut in Bollywood. The film co-starring Armaan Jain received negative critical reception. Her 2016 releases includeJaggu Dada, a Kannada film directed by Raghavendra Hege.
