Mannara Chopra is an Indian model and actress who primarily works in the Telugu and Hindi film industry. The cousin of the popular Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, Mannara made her acting debut with the movie Zid in 2014.
Early Life
Born in Bokaro, Jharkhand, Mannara was named as Barbie Handa, after a three-course meal served at the Shiv Sagar restaurant in Mumbai. The actress` father is a lawyer and her mother is a jewelry designer. Apart from Priyanka Chopra, actresses Meera Chopra and Parineeta Chopra are her cousins. She has a sibling, Mitali, who is a commerce graduate. It was her cousin, who lived overseas, suggested to keep her nickname as Barbie Handa, however, Mannara`s mother insisted on keeping it as her real name. Mannara was brought up in Delhi and completed her schooling from the Summer Fields School in New Delhi. The actress is a BBA (Bachelors of Business Administration) graduate. She is also trained in dance forms such as belly dancing and hip hop.
Movie Career
Before making her debut as an actress, Mannara first took up modeling, and then ventured into advertising. Amongst the several commercials that she appeared in, Mannara featured with Priyanka Chopra in three commercials. The actress later revealed that it was her Dabur Amla Hair Oil commercial that got her instant recognition, which gave her an entry in the Telugu film industry.

In 2014, Mannara made her acting debut with the Telugu movie Prema Geema Jantha Nai directed by Subbu RV; portraying the role of a talkative college girl. She was credited by her birth name in the movie. In the same year, she made her Bollywood debut with movie Zid directed by Vivek Agnihotri. The movie also stars Karanvir Sharma and Shraddha Das in lead roles. Her performance as an obsessive lover received mixed reviews at the box office, however, the movie turned out to be one of the most successful movies of 2014. She later made a cameo appearance in an item number in the Tamil movie Kaaval (2015). Her 2016 releases include three Telugu movies, Jakkanna, Thikka, and Rogue. Her 2019 release includes Seetha.
