Having started his career in the showbiz industry with appearances in the TV commercials for renowned brands like Virgin Mobile, eBay, Nissan Micra and Airtel, Varun Sharma got his major breakthrough on the silver screen with Fukrey (2013). The film, which was the production venture of Farhan Akhtar turned out to be a surprise hit and Varun for his brilliant performance won many awards including Star Guild Awards for Best Performance in a Comic Role and the Zee Cine Awards for Best Actor in a Comic Role. The alumnus of ITFT Chandigarh, in 2014 made his debut in a Punjabi film with Yaaran Da Katchup, which was directed by Abhay Baiju Chabbra. His other notable film credits include Dolly Ki Doli (2015), Dilwale (2015), Raabta (2017), Fukrey Returns (2017), FryDay (2018), Arjun Patiala (2019). Khandaani Shafakhana (2019) and Chhichhore (2019). His 2020 release includes Street Dancer 3, directed by Remo D`Souza. In 2021, he starred in the comedy-horror film Roohi, which also stars Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor in pivotal roles.
