About the movie
The film takes place in the impoverished village of Laholi where, following droughts, most of the villagers` possessions are mortgaged to the local Thakurani Karamkali (Sudha Chandran). One of the few entertainments the villagers can afford is the lottery, Malaamal Weekly. When Lilaram (Paresh Rawal), the only educated man in the villagewho is also responsible for mediating between the lottery company and the village populus finds out that Anthony (Innocent Vincent), the drunkard has won the lottery, he goes to collect his commission. But, on reachong Anthony`s place,he finds for himself an awful surprise and a chance of a lifetime... What can it be?
