About
Model and actor Eva Gaelle Green, better known as Eva Green, started her acting career with theater after which she made her movie debut in the 2003 with The Dreamers, and her performance in the movie won her a European Film Award nomination for Best Actress. It was after her appearance in the historical epic Kingdom of Heaven in 2005 that she became a globally recognized face. However, she is best remembered for portraying the character of the Bond girl Vesper Lynd in the 2006 movie Casino Royale, for which she won the BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Apart from movies, the actor was also seen in television series such as Camelot in 2011, and in Penny Dreadful, which first aired in 2014. She received a number of nominations for Best Television Actress for her performance in Penny Dreadful, including the Best Actress in a Television Series - Drama at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. Some of her notable works include Dark Shadows (2012), 300: Rise of an Empire (2014), and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014).

Early Life
Eva Green was born to French actress, singer, and author Marlene Jobert and her dentist husband Walter Green just two minutes before her twin sister Johanne Green on the 6th of July, 1980 in Paris, France. She attended the American University of Paris in France, and at the age of seven, she developed an interest in Egyptology. Green traveled to London and Ireland very often while growing up. When she was fourteen, she was inspired by Isabelle Adjani`s performance in the movie The Story of Adele H. to become an actor. Her initially reluctant mother got her enrolled at the St. Paul Drama School, Paris, after which she attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Upon completing her studies, Green returned to Paris and was a part of a number of plays.

Personal Life
Eva Green dated fellow actor Yann Claassen for a year between 2001 and 2002. After her short-lived relationship, the Casino Royale star dated her Kingdom of Heaven co-star Marton Csokas, whom she was in a long distance with for three years. Csokas moved to London to live-in with Green, however, after a year the two called it quits in 2009. The actor has reportedly been in a relationship with director Tim Burton since December 2015.

Movie Career
Before making her movie debut in 2003, Green started her acting career with theater and was seen in Jalousie en Trois Fax in 2001. Her performance in the play won her a Moliere Award nomination. After her debut stage performance, she was a part of yet another stage show, Turcaret in 2002. Following her appearances on stage, Green made her movie debut in 2003 with Bernardo Bertolucci rather controversial movie The Dreamers, where she was required to appear in full frontal nude scenes. Her agent and parents were extremely against her taking up the project, but Green was confident in Bertolucci`s work and took it up, receiving a European Film Award nomination for Best Actress.

Following the success of her debut movie, Green was seen in the 2004 movie adaptation of Maurice LeBlanc`s series of novels titled Arsene Lupin, where she played Lupin`s lover and was cast alongside Romain Duris, and Kristin Scott Thomas. Impressed with her debut performance, director Ridley Scott cast her alongside Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson, and Jeremy Irons in the 2005 epic historical drama Kingdom of Heaven, which went to become a commercially successful movie. Much to her disappointment, most of her scenes were edited out, making it difficult for the audience to understand her character, Sibylla of Jerusalem. However, most of her scenes were restored in the director`s cut, providing enough depth to her character`s complex subplot.

The following year, Green was cast in the James Bond film Casino Royale alongside Daniel Craig, where she played the role of the Bond girl Vesper Lyndin. Her performance in the movie was well-received with IGN calling her the best femme fatale. Green went on to receive various nominations for her work in Casino Royale of which she won the BAFTA Rising Star Award and Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer. In 2007, she was seen in the movie adaptation of The Golden Compass, where she played the role of the witch queen Serafina Pekkala. She then appeared in other movies such as Franklyn in 2008, Cracks, and Womb, both of which released in 2009.

She first collaborated with the Big Fish director Tim Burton in 2012 with the movie Dark Shadows co-starring Johnny Depp, where she played the role of a vengeful Angelique Bouchard. She was then seen in the sequel to 300, 300: Rise of an Empire in 2014, playing the role of Artemisia. The same year, she played the lead role of Ava Lord in Sin City`s sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Reuniting with her Dark Shadows` director Tim Burton, Green appeared in the 2016 dark fantasy adventure drama Miss Peregrine`s Home for Peculiar Children.

Television Career
While continuing with her movie career, Green became associated with the television series Camelot, making her television debut in 2011. In the historical-fantasy-drama, she played the role of Morgan Pendragon, who is willing to go to any extent in order to claim her father`s throne and seeks the help of the dark forces in her pursuit. After playing the main antagonist in her debut television series, she played the role of the enigmatic Vanessa Ives in the horror-drama series Penny Dreadful, which first aired in 2014. Her performance in the series won her various nominations, including the Best Actress in a Television Series - Drama at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards in 2016.
