Kader Khan was an Indian actor, comedian, scriptwriter and director. Before he got into the film industry, he was a professor of civil engineering. His career kickstarted when
Dilip Kumar was impressed with his performance in a play called Taash Ke Patey, and signed him up for Sagina (1974) and Bairaag (1976). As a dialogue writer, he got his big break through
Rajesh Khanna`s Roti (1974). He has acted in over 300 films and written dialogues for more than 250. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including
Amitabh Bachchan,
Jeetendra,
Feroz Khan,
Anil Kapoor, and starred alongside other comedians like
Asrani,
Shakti Kapoor and
Johny Lever. After more than four decades of work in a wide variety of genres, he eventually moved to Toronto, Canada. He passed away in January 2019.
Kader was critically acclaimed for his roles in Do Aur Do Paanch (1980), Waqt Ki Deewar (1981), Teesri Aankh (1982), Himmatwala (1983) and Mera Faisla (1984). He starred in blockbuster films including Coolie No. 1 (1995), Judwaa (1997), Gharwali Baharwali (1998), Haseena Maan Jayengi (1999) and Joru Ka Ghulam (2000). Kader garnered immense appreciation for Yeh Hai Jalwa (2002), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Lucky: No Time for Love (2005) and Desh Drohi (2008). His recent films include Dil Bhi Khaali Jeb Bhi Khaali (2014) and
Ungli (2014),
Tevar (2015). Kader was last seen in the films
Hogaya Dimaagh Ka Dahi (2015) and
Masti Nahi Sasti (2017).
