Kate Elizabeth Winslet has been one of the most graceful British actresses to have made her presence felt on the big screen. This versatile actress achieved global stardom with the gigantic success of the movie `Titanic`, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. For years, fans identified her by the name `Rose`, the character she portrayed in this movie.

By lending herself effortlessly to period dramas and playing a host of period roles in movies like `Sense and Sensibility`, `Hamlet`, and `Jude` she got nicknamed as `Period Piece Babe`. She has always been a favourite of the critics who have appreciated her performances in several films such as `Finding Neverland` (2004), `Iris` (2001), `Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind` (2004), and `Revolutionary Road` (2008), She has done it all - right from Shakespearean tragedy to modern-day mysticism as well as erotica. Her beauty and grace have always stood out whilst she appeared in reel life or real life. She was voted as one of the `Most Beautiful Faces` for 17 consecutive years by The Annual Independent Critics List of the 100 Most Beautiful Famous Faces From Around the World. Early Life
Kate Winslet was born on October 5, 1975, in Reading area of Berkshire, England. Acting seemed to run in her family as both her parents were stage actors, while her maternal grandparents founded and managed the Reading Repertory Theatre. Her mother, Sally Bridges, was a barmaid, while her father, Roger Winslet, was a swimming pool contractor. Her siblings include brother Joss Winslet and two sisters, Beth and Anna.

Winslet appeared in a TV commercial for Sugar Puffs cereal when she was just around 11 years old. She then began taking formal training for drama & acting at Redroofs Theatre School. She participated in a lot of stage productions during those early years of her acting career, which eventually launched her into the glamorous world of movies.
Personal Life
The gorgeous Kate Winslet had a four-and-a-half-year relationship with actor and writer Stephen Tredre, whom she met on the sets of `Dark Season` TV series in 1991. She met director Jim Threapleton on the sets of `Hideous Kinky` in 1997, and they both shared a good rapport, eventually leading to their marriage in 1998. Winslet has a daughter, Mia Honey Threapleton from this marriage, that ended around December 2001.

She then shared a relationship with director Sam Mendes from 2001 onwards. They both got married in 2003, and even have a son by the name Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes. However, the couple got divorced in 2011.

In 2012, Winslet married businessman Ned Rocknroll (R), who is the nephew of Virgin Group founder Richard Branson. They both permanently shifted to UK (from New York) and even have a son, Bear Blaze Winslet, from their marriage.
Movie Career
Kate Winslet was seen in the science fiction TV series `Dark Season` around 1991. She later appeared in the sitcom `Get Back` as well as in the TV film `Anglo-Saxon Attitudes` in 1992.

At the age of 17, she got her first film break. She starred in the movie `Heavenly Creatures` (1994), where she portrayed the character of an obsessive adolescent named `Juliet Hulme`. For this movie, she went on to win the `British Film Actress of The Year` award from the London Film Critics Circle. Her next movie was Ang Lee`s `Sense and Sensibility`, where she played the second lead alongside stars like Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman. With worldwide collections of over $135 million, the film even gave good limelight for Kate Winslet as she won the BAFTA and Screen Actor`s Guild Award, besides getting nominated for Golden Globe and Academy Awards.

Winslet followed this up with few more period films like Jude and Hamlet, both of which got positive reviews and critical acclaim for the versatile Winslet. However, she got recognized worldwide as the commercial movie star with her performance in James Cameron`s `Titanic`. This 1997 movie was huge and it turned out to be the highest-grossing film at the time of its release, with global collections of over $2,186,800,000. She won nominations for most of the awards in the `Best Actress` category for this movie and eventually won a European Film Award as well.

The actress continued her Hollywood journey with movies like `Hideous Kinky` (1998), `Holy Smoke!` (1999), and another period film `Quills` (2000). The 2001 release `Enigma` was her first war film. In the same year, Winslet shared a role with Judi Dench for the critically acclaimed movie `Iris`.

Later, Winslet donned the role of a voice actress for the animated motion picture `Christmas Carol: The Movie`, for which she even recorded the single `What If`, that became widely popular. Winslet played a chatty and spontaneous role for the first time in `Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind` (2004), opposite Jim Carrey, which was a great success. Her next film, `Finding Neverland` (2004) was her second highest grossing film since `Titanic`, with collections of around $118 million._

In 2005, Winslet delivered an Emmy Award nomination winning performance in an episode of BBC & HBO comedy series `Extras`. She delivered fine performances in `Little Children` (2007), `Romance & Cigarettes` (2006), and `The Holiday` (2006). She also delivered award winning performances in `Revolutionary Road` (Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in this 2008 release opposite Leonardo DiCaprio;), `The Reader` (Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award ,Screen Actors Guild Award for this 2008 release), HBO miniseries `Mildred Pierce` (Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award for Best Actress - Miniseries or Television Film, Screen Actors Guild Award), and Steve Jobs (Golden Globe Award and BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actress in this 2015 release).

Winslet appeared in her first movie series with `Divergent` (2014) and its sequel `The Divergent Series: Insurgent` (2015), both of which turned out to be commercially successful. In 2016, the actress was seen in John Hillcoat`s crime-thriller Triple 9. Her other releases include Ammonite (2020) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022).
