Olivia Wilde, born as Olivia Jane Cockburn, is an American actress, model, director, producer, activist, and entrepreneur. Having shared the screen with many top actors, Wilde is best known for her roles in the much-acclaimed television series House as Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley, the sci-fi movie Tron:Legacy (2010), Cowboys and Aliens (2011), People Like Us (2012), The Words (2012), Drinking Buddies (2013) - that she also produced and Rush (2013). She also featured prominently in HBO`s period drama Vinyl in 2016. Known for being passionate about human rights issues, Wilde is an active member of organizations like, Artists for Peace and Justice, an NGO that focuses on education and healthcare in Haiti.

Early Life
Olivia Wilde was born on 10 March 1984 in New York City to journalists Leslie Cockburn and Andrew Cockburn. She completed her schooling in Washington DC and graduated from the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts in 2002. Wilde`s father hailed from an affluent British family, and had Irish citizenship, whereas, American-born Leslie Cockburn is believed to have roots in England, Scotland, Germany, and Ireland.

The actress grew up in Georgetown, Washington DC, being constantly influenced by a family of acclaimed journalists, lawyers, and writers. She even refused to go to Bard College in order to pursue her acting ambition. Her dual citizenship (American and Irish) aided her study at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland.

Personal Life
Olivia Wilde was 19 when she fell in love with Tao Ruspolini, an Italian musician, filmmaker, and artist. The young couple got married in a secret ceremony on June 7, 2003, inside a school bus, with only a couple of witnesses. However, nearly eight years later, in 2011 the couple announced their separation citing `irreconcilable differences`. Wilde did not seek spousal support and the couple made an out-of-court settlement regarding their properties. Later that year, Wilde started dating the actor, comedian and screenwriter Jason Sudeikis, whom she met at a Saturday Night Live party. The couple hit it off instantly, and just over a year later announced their engagement in January 2013. They welcomed their firstborn in 2014. Wilde and Sudeikis announced the arrival of their daughter, Daisy in 2016.

Television Career
Olivia Wilde moved to Los Angeles, California, at the age of 18, where she managed to quickly grab meaty roles in many television series. However, her first prominent appearance was in the short-lived Fox television series Skin (2003). Her portrayal of Alex Kelly in American teen drama The O.C (2004-2005) also did not go unnoticed. However Wilde then appeared on NBC mid-season drama The Black Donnellys in 2007 as Jenny Reiley, an Irish girl who grows up in the family and becoming romantically involved with their son. She then played three different characters in political thriller play, Beauty on the Vine (2007). Wilde`s most prominent roles on television came with the medical drama House starring. Hugh Laurie. Essaying the role of Dr. Remy "13" Hadley, Wilde received acclaim for her performance and was nominated on multiple occasions at the Teen Choice Awards. In subsequent years, Wilde starred on TV shows such as Portlandia (2014), Doll & Em (2015), and Vinyl (2016).

Movie Career
As an Actor
Wilde made her Hollywood debut in 2004 with the movie The Girl Next Door, essaying the role of Kellie. The actress won her first award at The Comedy Festival for Best Actress for her role in the movie Bickford Shmeckler`s Cool Ideas (2006). She also won the Vail Film Festival Rising Star Award in 2008 for the same movie. In 2010, Wilde essayed the character of Quorra in Disney`s sci-fi fantasy series Tron: Legacy, for which she was nominated for several awards.

In 2011, the actress was seen in another sci-fi movie, the Daniel Craig-starrer Cowboys & Aliens, where she played the role of Ella Swenson. Wilde`s next prominent work was in 2011 comedy The Change-up, where she worked alongside Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman. In the following year, she worked with Chris Pine in People Like Us (2012) and as Liza in the thriller Deadfall (2012). She also was seen in the multi-strand drama Third Person (2013), as Anna - an author`s muse who begins to brutally complicate his life. The year 2014 saw her starring in Better Living Through Chemistry, as Elizabeth Roberts, a trophy-wife who enters a pharmacist`s life and takes him on a crazy, drug-laced ride. In the comedy-drama Longest Week (2014) she starred alongside Jason Bateman and Billy Crudup as part of a love triangle.

In 2015, Wilde starred in the thriller The Lazarus Effect as Zoe, a medical researcher murdered and then revived using a serum that has disastrous side-effects. The film directed by David Gelb opened to negative reviews at the box office.

As a Producer
In 2015 she produced Meadowland, in which she also starred. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Taking a cue from her journalist parents, Wilde also shifted focus to documentary films as a producer. Her documentary film, Body Team 12, dealt with the Ebola breakout and went on to win the Best Documentary award in 2015 Tribeca Film Festival. Other documentaries she produced included The Rider and the Storm, about a New York iron worker from Queens who lost everything to Hurricane Sandy, Baseball in the Time of Cholera, which focused on the spread of the epidemic in quake-hit Haiti and Sun City Picture House that worked in the rebuilding of a theatre in the disaster-struck region.

As a Director
She ventured into directing with the short film Free Hugs (2011), that she also wrote. The film was screened at the festival as part of Glamour Magazine`s short film series across America.

Her 2019 release includes Richard Jewell, directed by Clint Eastwood.
