Primarily working in the Marathi film industry, Ravi has directed several successful movies.
Early Life
As a child, Ravi was inclined towards art and to pursue his passion for arts, he studied Visual Communications and Graphic Designs at the famous J.J. School of Arts in Mumbai. Soon after he graduated, Ravi began his career as a creative director and copywriter for a leading advertising agency.
Movie Career
Ravi made his debut in the Marathi film industry with the movie Natarang (2010), which is based on the 1978 novel Natrang by Dr. Anand Yadav. The movie starring Atul Kulkarni in the lead role portrays the journey of a young artist, who follows his dream overcoming the hurdles he faces in life. Natarang won many awards; the most coveted being the Best Marathi Film National Award. The movie participated in several national and international film festivals and went on to become one of the most successful movies of Marathi cinema. Ravi won the Best Director Award at the Zee Gaurav Awards 2010.

In 2011, Ravi directed the movie Balgandharva, a biographical Marathi drama film based on one of the most celebrated Marathi singers and stage actors, Narayan Shripad Rajhuns. The film was declared as a super hit at the box office and won three National Awards at the 59th National Film Awards. Just like his previous film Balgandharva was also screened at several national and international film festivals including the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals. Following the success of his first two films, in 2012, Ravi directed his third Marathi comedy-drama movie Balak-Palak, which is centered on the subject of sex education. The film produced by Riteish Deshmukh, Uttung Thakur, Ravi himself, was highly successful at the box office.

Ravi`s talent and passion were reflected in his work as with each movie his direction kept on getting better and in 2014 his next movie, Timepass, went on to become the highest grossing Marathi movie at the time of its release; winning more than 40 awards. Timepass starring Prathamesh Parab, Ketaki Mategaonkar, and Vaibhav Mangle is the first Marathi movie to cross the 35 crore mark at the box office. The movie was also remade in Telugu titled, Andhra Pori. His next movie Mitraa (2014), a short film on lesbian relationships, received praise from the critics.

Ravi next produced two movies, the Mahesh Manjerakar starrer, Rege (2014), and Prakash Kunte`s directorial debut, Coffee Ani Barach Kahi (2015). While the former performed exceptionally well at the box office, the latter received an average response. In 2015, Ravi directed the sequel to his successful movie Timepass, released in 2014. Timepass 2, starring Priyadarshan Jadhav and Priya Bapat, couldn`t match the success of its predecessor, however, the movie did reasonably good at the box office with the second-week collections reaching up to INR 23.60 crore.

Ravi has also directed the music video titled Tomorrow`s Decided for Pentagram, a Mumbai based rock band, which features the popular Bollywood musician and singer, Vishal Dadlani.

Ravi`s next releases include Chhatrapati Shivaji, and Banjo - his first Hindi movie as a director. Both the movies star Riteish Deshmukh.
