Early Life
Kate Winslet was born on October 5, 1975, in Reading area of Berkshire, England. Acting seemed to run in her family as both her parents were stage actors, while her maternal grandparents founded and managed the Reading Repertory Theatre. Her mother, Sally Bridges, was a barmaid, while her father, Roger Winslet, was a swimming pool contractor. Her siblings include brother Joss Winslet and two sisters, Beth and Anna.
Winslet appeared in a TV commercial for Sugar Puffs cereal when she was just around 11 years old. She then began taking formal training for drama & acting at Redroofs Theatre School. She participated in a lot of stage productions during those early years of her acting career, which eventually launched her into the glamorous world of movies.
Personal Life
The gorgeous Kate Winslet had a four-and-a-half-year relationship with actor and writer Stephen Tredre, whom she met on the sets of `Dark Season` TV series in 1991. She met director Jim Threapleton on the sets of `
Hideous Kinky` in 1997, and they both shared a good rapport, eventually leading to their marriage in 1998. Winslet has a daughter, Mia Honey Threapleton from this marriage, that ended around December 2001.
She then shared a relationship with director
Sam Mendes from 2001 onwards. They both got married in 2003, and even have a son by the name Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes. However, the couple got divorced in 2011.
In 2012, Winslet married businessman Ned Rocknroll (R), who is the nephew of Virgin Group founder Richard Branson. They both permanently shifted to UK (from New York) and even have a son, Bear Blaze Winslet, from their marriage.

Kate Winslet was seen in the science fiction TV series `Dark Season` around 1991. She later appeared in the sitcom `Get Back` as well as in the TV film `Anglo-Saxon Attitudes` in 1992.
At the age of 17, she got her first film break. She starred in the movie `
Heavenly Creatures` (1994), where she portrayed the character of an obsessive adolescent named `Juliet Hulme`. For this movie, she went on to win the `British Film Actress of The Year` award from the London Film Critics Circle. Her next movie was
Ang Lee`s `Sense and Sensibility`, where she played the second lead alongside stars like
Emma Thompson,
