Like Franco Zeffirelli's adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy, the film uses the traditional setting of Renaissance Verona. However, since the release of the film's trailer, it has become clear, that the film-unlike any of the previous major film adaptations-will not use Shakespeare's traditional dialogue, and only follow the play's plot.
