Best remembered for his portrayal of Dominic Toretto in The Fast and The Furious series, Vin Diesel is an American actor and producer. Few of his other memorable roles are in The Chronicles of Riddick and xXx series. Apart from being an actor and producer, Diesel has also written and directed few short films such as Multi-Facial, Strays, and Los Bandoleros. The multiple time People Choice Award-winning actor has also voiced for the titular character in The Iron Giant in 1999 and the character of Groot in the 2014 superhero movie Guardians of the Galaxy.

The actor has also founded production companies such as One Race Films, which has other subsidiary companies such as Racetrack Records, a music label, and Tigon Studios, a video game developing company.

Early Life
Born as Mark Sinclair on July 18, 1967, in the Alameda County of California, USA Diesel has a twin brother named Paul. His mother Delora Sherleen is an astrologer while his adoptive father, Irving Vincent, was an acting instructor and theatre manager. Diesel has two other siblings apart from twin brother, Samantha Vincent, a film producer, and Tim Vincent.

Diesel was first introduced to acting at the age of seven when he performed on stage in a play called Dinosaur Door at the Theatre for New City. Following this, he continued to be a part of theatre. He went on to study creative writing at the Hunter College, New York, where he graduated with a major in English. While still in college, he began screenwriting. At the age of 17, Diesel worked as a bouncer at a number of nightclubs in New York, owing to his well-built physique, where he took on the name of Vin Diesel.

Personal Life
While shooting for The Fast and The Furious in 2001, Diesel started dating his co-star Michelle Rodriguez. However, their relationship did not last very long. Following his rather short-term relationship with Rodriguez, Diesel started dating Mexican model Paloma Jimenez in 2007. A year into their relationship, the two welcomed their first child Hania Riley in 2008. The couple has two other children together; a son, Vincent Sinclair, and a daughter, Pauline, who was named in memory of Diesel`s very good friend and The Fast and The Furious co-star Paul Walker, who passed away in 2013.

Movie Career
As an Actor
Vin Diesel`s first appearance at the movies came with an uncredited role in the 1990 film Awakenings. Following his uncredited debut, he starred in the 1994 short film Multi-Facial, which he also wrote for and directed. The movie was screened at the Cannes Festival in 1995, where it received positive reviews. Next, in 1997, he again starred in his directorial venture Strays, which screened at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival and was well-received by the audience. It was his work in the short film Multi-Facial that helped him grab a role in Steven Spielberg`s Oscar Award-winning war drama Saving Private Ryan in 1998.

Having made an appearance in a globally successful movie, Diesel voiced the titular character in the animated sci-fi comedy action The Iron Giant in 1999. His breakthrough came with the 2000 sci-fi action horror Pitch Black, where he played the role of the anti-hero Riddick. Vin Diesel, however, rose to prominence with his performance in the 2001 street racing action The Fast and the Furious, starring Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster in lead roles. Upping his previous performance, Diesel was seen playing the role of Xander Cage in the 2002 action thriller xXx, starring Asia Argento, Marton Csokas and Samuel L. Jackson.

Reprising his role of Riddick, Diesel was seen in the 2004 sci-fi adventure The Chronicles of Riddick, which opened to negative reviews and was declared a box office failure. Following this, he starred in a light-hearted action comedy The Pacifier, which was well-received by the audience and the critics alike. Although his performance in the 2006 courtroom comedy-drama Find Me Guilty won him critical praise, the movie was a box office failure. Diesel has been a part of the Fast and Furious film franchise and was seen reprising the role of Dominic Toretto in all of its sequels; a cameo role in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and Furious 7 (2015).

Next, he in the third installment of The Chronicles of Riddick series titled Riddick, which opened to mixed reviews yet was a commercial success. He then voiced the character of Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. Diesel was then cast in the 2015 supernatural action movie The Last Witch Hunter where he played the titular role of Kaulder, a witch hunter, and in making a cameo appearance in Ang Lee`s war drama Billy Lynn`s Long Halftime Walk in 2016. In 2017, Diesel was seen reprising his role of Xander Cage in the action movie xXx: Return of Xander Cage starring Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, and Deepika Padukone. The same year, he returned as Dominic Toretto in The Fate of the Furious, and also voiced Groot`s character in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He continued to reprise the role of Groot in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). His 2020 releases include yet another comic based superhero film - Bloodshot and Fast and Furious 9. He reprised his role as Groot in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023).

As a Producer
Diesel first donned the producer`s hat for his directorial Multi-Facial, a short film. After having made his debut as a producer, he was associated with a number of short films, documentaries, and full-length movies. He has produced movies, which he also starred in, such as xXx (2002), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and has produced most of the movies from The Fast and the Furious series such as Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), The Fate of the Furious (2017), F9 (2021) and Fast X (2023).

As a Director
Diesel started his movie career with a short film titled Multi-Facial, which was not only produced by him but was also directed by him. After having made his directorial debut with a short film, Diesel directed a full-length movie titled Strays, which screened at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival and was well-received by the audience. He has also directed two short videos titled Short Diversity 5 and Los Bandoleros, and an episode of the television series The Ropes.
