Shraddha Srinath is an Indian film actress who has predominantly appeared in the Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil film industries. Making a splash with her Kannada movie, U-Turn (2016), she announced her arrival onto the big screen in style. She made her big screen debut earlier in a Malayalam movie Kohinoor (2015). Shraddha is a much sought after actress after her star performance in Pawan Kumar`s U-Turn. Her other acting credits include movies like Urvi (2017) and the 2017 Tamil releases- Kaatru Veliyidai (2017) and Vikram Vedha (2017). In 2017 she has also starred in Operation Alamelamma (2017) opposite Rishi.
Early & Personal Life
Originally born in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir on 29 September 1990, being from an Army family Shraddha Srinath has lived throughout India. Her father was an Army officer and her mother was a school teacher. Before delving into movies she studied Law at the Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies. She was working as a real estate lawyer with a Bangalore-based real estate company, Century Real Estate Holdings Pvt Ltd. She`s currently the Legal Advisor at Decathlon Sports India in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Along with her legal practice, she started acting in theatre plays and also appeared in some advertisements. This paved her way to work in movies.
Shraddha Srinath was called in for an audition for the lead role in a Kannada film. She did get selected but the sad part was that the movie got shelved. All though it was a huge setback to a new actress, Shraddha didn`t stop acting in short films and advertisements. She was spotted by director Vinay Govind who approached her for his Malayalam movie Kohinoor (2015). The star cast included Asif Ali, Indrajith Sukumaran and Aju Varghese. Shraddha played the role of Nancy in her big screen debut.
With a new found confidence Shraddha applied for the lead role in director Pawan Kumar`s next directorial venture, U-Turn. Pawan Kumar offered her the lead role after asking her to brush up on her spoken Kannada. The movie premiered at the New York Indian Film Festival to rave reviews. She played the role of Rachana, an intern on her way to becoming a journalist. The star cast also had another female protagonist, Radhika Chetan, who is well known for her debut super hit movie RangiTaranga (2015). U-Turn turned out to be a critics favourite and was declared a superhit.
Shraddha next starred alongside Shruthi Hariharan and Shweta Pandit in B. S. Pradeep Varma`s Urvi (2017). The movie was unique as apart from the three female protagonists, the antagonist, Bhavani Prasad, was also a female. Urvi was a critics favourite, with mostly positive reviews.
She debuted in Tamil when she was offered the role of a Brigadier`s daughter by legendary director, Mani Ratnam in his 2017 release Kaatru Veliyidai. The movie has Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead. Shraddha will be seen making a cameo.
Shraddha plays the lead role in director "Simple" Suni`s new movie Operation Alamelamma. She will be seen opposite Rishi in the movie. In Richie (2017) she will be acting alongside Malayalam superstar, Nivin Pauly. The upcoming Tamil movie is a remake of the Kannada cult classic, Ulidavaru Kandanthe (2014) and will be directed by first-time director Gautham Ramachandran. Shraddha will also be seen in the Tamil neo-noir action crime thriller, Vikram Vedha (2017). The movie directed by Pushkar and Gayathri has R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi pitted against each other.
Shraddha has worked with theatre troupes like Jugaad Co., Playtonik and Barking Dog productions. During this time she acted in popular plays like A Box of Shorts, Take it or leave it and Vagina Monologues. Her 2019 releases include Jersey, Nerkonda Paarvai and Jodi. Her 2021 release includes Chakra.
