Jessica Marie Alba is an American actress, businesswoman, and model who is best known for her role as Sue Storm in the Marvels comics based super-hero movie, Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
. The talented actress began her acting career at a very early age, her first movie appearance was in Camp Nowhere at the age of 13. She rose to fame when she played the lead role in James Cameroon
's TV series, Dark Angel.
To her credit, the actress has been part of some of the hit movies like the Honey (2003) , Sin City (2005), Into the Blue (2005), Good Luck Chuck (2007) and along the way she has won several awards like Choice Actress Teen Choice Award, Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television and a nomination at the Golden Globe Awards. Apart from her acting career, the actress is also a co-founder of a consumer good company named The Honest Company that sells non-toxic household products.
Jessica Alba was born in Pomona, California to Mark David Alba and Catherine Louisa. Owing to Alba's father's career in the Air Force, the family had to move to different places; they lived in Mississippi, Texas, Biloxi and Del Rio, before eventually settling down in Claremont, California. Alba who grew up with her brother, Joshua Alba, describes her family as a very conservative and traditional Latin American catholic family. The actress graduated from the Claremont High School and subsequently went to Atlantic Theater Company.
In January 2000 while working on her film Dark Angel, she began dating her co-star, Micheal Weatherly who was 12 years older to her. Weatherly proposed Alba and she accepted, however, after three years of dating, in August 2003, Alba announced that she has ended their relationship. In 2004, while filming for Fantastic Four, Alba met Cash Warren, the son of veteran actor Micheal Warren and soon the two began dating. Four years later in May 2007, the duo tied the knot and they have two daughters named Honor Marie Warren and Haven Garner Warren.
Alba was interested in acting right from her childhood, her first appearance on the big screen was a small role in the 1994 movie, Camp Nowhere. Post her first tryst with acting in the movies, the actress appeared in various TV commercials for J.C Penney and Nintendo. She also worked in many independent movies before venturing out into the TV series like The Secret of World of Alex Mack, which was broadcast on Nickelodeon and Flipper where she essayed the role of Maya in the first two episodes. Her other work in TV series' include The Love Boat: The Next Wave, Brooklyn South, and P.U.N.K.S.
After having done a significant amount on work in the TV industry, the actress focused her attention in Hollywood and in 1999 she got her first role as an adult in the Drew Barrymore
starring romantic-comedy, Never Been Kissed. In the same year, she played the lead role in Idle Hands alongside Devon Sawa. She got her big break when she was cast in the James Cameroon's sci-fi TV series, Dark Angel. Her stellar performance in the series won her a lot of critical acclaims as well as a nomination at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress In A Television Series and went on to win the Saturn Award for Best Actress.
While she was praised for her acting in Dark Angel, she also received a lot of flak from the critics and was nominated for the Razzie Awards for Worst Actress for her performances as Sue Storm in the 2005 movie Fantastic Four and its sequel, Into the Blue (2005) , Good Luck Chuck (2007) and Awake. In 2008, the actress ventured out to act in the horror film, The Eye,
which opened to negative reviews but Alba praised for her role in the movie. In the same year, she starred alongside Justin Timberlake
in the box-office flop, The Love Guru
. In late 2008, the actress signed up to play the lead role in An Invisible Sign of My Own. The movie was premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival and released in May 2011.
The year 2010 was quite a successful year for the actress as she starred in five films in the same year. Her first film of the year was The Killer Inside Me, which was the adaptation of a book of the same name. The movie directed by Micheal Winterbottom
