Parvathy Nair
Born: December 5, 1991 in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E
A qualified computer engineer, Parvathy Nair is an Indian model and actor, who, before taking up acting, won beauty pageant titles such as Miss Karnataka and Miss Navy Queen. After appearing in a string of television commercials, Parvathy made her movie debut in 2012 with the Malayalam drama Poppins. Since her debut, Parvathy has not limited herself to just the Malayalam industry and has worked in the other major South Indian industries - Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.

Early Life
Born to a Malayali family in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Parvathy studied at Our Own English School in Abu Dhabi, however, she moved to Kerala to complete her schooling at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram. Upon completing her schooling, she enrolled herself at the Manipal Institute of Technology in Karnataka, where she graduated from with a degree in software engineering.

While studying engineering, Parvathy started modeling and participated in the Miss Karnataka pageant in 2009, winning the title. The next year, she went on to win the Navy Queen Kerala title, following which she appeared in a number of commercials for brands like Anchor, Asian Paints, Reliance, and Prestige to name a few. She was noticed by director V. K. Prakash, who approached her to star in the musical drama Beautiful but she turned the offer down since she was unsure if she wanted to pursue her career in engineering or in acting. However, the following year, she began accepting movie offers.

Movie Career
Parvathy made her debut in 2012 with the Malayalam anthology movie Poppins, which explored the story of five couples and their struggles to keep their relationship strong. Although she had an insignificant role in the movie, she went on to appear in the romantic fantasy Yakshi – Faithfully Yours, which starred Faizal and Avanthika Mohan and also marked the directorial debut of Abhiram Suresh Unnithan. She then appeared in two other Malayalam movies, Nee Ko Njaa Cha and Dolls, before making her Kannada debut with the 2013 psychological thriller Story Kathe. Her portrayal of a journalist, who gets involved in a medical student’s case, won her the SIIMA Award for Best Female Debutant.

Making her Tamil debut, Parvathy was seen in a supporting role in the bilingual vigilante movie Nimirndhu Nil, starring Jayam Ravi and Amala Paul, which released in 2014. Subsequently, the movie was made in Telugu and released in 2015 titled Janda Pai Kapiraju, which starred Nani in the lead alongside Amala Paul. After having made small appearances in movies, she auditioned for a role in Gautham Menon’s Tamil neo-noir crime drama Yennai Arindhaal, and successfully managed to bag the role of Arun Vijay’s character’s vengeful wife Lisa. The movie was, both, a critical and commercial success, with her performance being well-received. Meanwhile, she portrayed the role of Kamal Hasaan’s character’s illegitimate daughter in the drama-metafilm Uttama Villain. The movie garnered immense praise critically but was declared a box-office failure.

Cast in the lead role opposite Kishore, Parvathy played the role of an English lecturer in the 2015 Kannada satirical movie Vascodigama, which takes a satirical take on the education system in the country. The movie opened to positive reviews and was lauded for its theme. Next, in 2016, she was seen in a small yet significant role in the Tamil romantic-comedy Maalai Naerathu Mayakkam, marking the debuts of Balakrishna Kola and Wamiqa Gabbi. The movie opened to positive reviews and was also declared a box-office hit. She was then cast alongside Shanthanu Bhagyaraj in R. Parthiepan’s 2017 drama thriller Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga, which failed to vow the audience and critics alike and fared poorly at the box-office. The same year, she was seen in the Tamil action romance Engitta Modhathey, which stars Natarajan Subramaniam, Rajaji, and Sanchita Shetty in pivotal roles.
