The Delhi-born Indian actor, Tahir Raj Bhasin is best remembered for his negative role in his debut movie Mardaani opposite Rani Mukerji. His performance won him a number of nominations of which he won the Screen Awards for Best Actor In a Negative Role (Male). After his debut in 2014, the actor was seen in one of Y-Films` web series, and opposite Sonakshi Sinha and John Abraham in Force 2 in 2016.

Early Life
Born to a Punjabi father and Kashmiri-Maharashtrian family, Tahir lived in Delhi and was born on the 21st of April, 1987. He spent most of his childhood in the Air Force Bases, considering his father worked for the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot. While his father served the Indian Defence Force, his mother worked with Confederation of Indian Industry, and Aptech Computers. He is the elder brother of two, and his younger brother is a pilot with Cathay Pacific.

Tahir started acting at the age of 13 and went on to pursue his acting training at the Barry John Acting School when he was only but 15 years old. After having studied at various schools across India, Tahir completed his colleging at the Hindu College, University of Delhi, where he studied political science. While studying, he was a part of theater actor Aamir Raza Hussain acting workshop and also participated in IIT Bombay`s Mood Indigo festival, after which he was sure of wanting to become an actor. He then moved to Australia for further studies and attended the University of Melbourne from where he holds a masters degree in media with special papers in Screen Media and the History and Philosophy of Film. He subsequently worked at a national news production company at the age of 18, hosting campus talk shows for a premier news channel in India.

In order to pursue his acting and modelling, the budding actor moved to Mumbai at the age of 23. He enrolled himself at the Institute of Advanced Acting and Behavioural Studies for a year, studying about body language and behavioral analytic. Apart from this course, he was also a part of a number of acting workshops at the Theater Professionals Company, Mumbai, whose faculty comprises of lecturers from National School of Drama. Adding to his list of workshops and acting programs is Naseeruddin Shah`s acting and voice training program. He is also a trained contemporary Bollywood jazz dancer and a mixed martial artist.

Movie Career
Before making his big Bollywood debut, Tahir appeared in four short films for Film and Television Institute of India in 2012. He was also seen in commercials for Samsung and Canon. His first movie appearances was his cameo appearance in Sanjay Khanduri`s comedy thriller Kismat Love Paisa Dilli. Next, he was seen in Abhishek Kapoor`s Kai Po Che! in a three-minute-long role, where he played the role of the grown up cricketer, Ali. Following this, he was seen in the 2014 romantic comedy One by Two starring Abhay Deol and Prachi Desai.

Despite several appearances, his Bollywood debut in a lead role came with Pradeep Sarkar`s crime thriller Mardaani co-starring Rani Mukerji. The movie saw Tahir play the role of a Karan Rastogi, a Delhi-based human trafficking kingpin. His performance was not only praised by the audience but was also lauded by the critics. He won several nominations for his work, including a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and went on to win the Screen Awards for Best Actor in a Negative Role (Male).

He has appeared in a number of short films such as Song We Wrote, The Last Day, and Gataank. He was seen paired opposite Nimrat Kaur in an episode of Y-Films` web series Love Shots. Following the success of his debut movie, Tahir was cast alongside Sonakshi Sinha and John Abraham in Abhinay Deo`s 2016 thriller Force 2, where he will again be playing a negative role. His other releases include Manto (2018), Chhichhore (2019), 83 (2021) and Looop Lapeta (2022).
