Biranne Sidonie Desaulniers, better known by her screen name, Brie Larson is an American actress, director and singer. The actress who had a penchant for acting since childhood starting his acting career with an appearance in the popular sitcom, Raising Dad in 2001. The series not only wide recognition as well as a nomination for Young Artist Award.

Larson who made her debut on the silver screen with 13 Going on 30 (2004) rose to fame with her role in the independent drama Short Term 12 (2013), which won wide critical acclaim and later won many laurels including an Academy Award, BAFTA Award and Critic`s Choice Award for her role as a troubled kidnap victim in Room (2015), which was based on a novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue.

Early Life
Born in Sacramento, California, Brie Larson is the daughter of Heather and Sylvain Desaulniers who were both chiropractors. Larson`s parents divorced when she was young and she moved to Los Angeles with her mother and sister. Post her parent`s divorce, the actress did not have a good relationship with her father and in 2016, in an interview with Elle Magazine, she said that she hasn`t spoken to her father in more than 10 years. The actress did not attend any school, instead she was home-school and after she completed her education, she went to American Conservatory Theater, San Francisco to study acting.

Personal Life
Brie Larson started dating Alex Greenwald in 2013. After dating for three years, in 2016, the actress`s representative confirmed that she and Greenwald got engaged.

Movie Career
Brie Larson made her maiden film appearance in 13 Going on 30 (2004), an American romantic comedy directed by Gary Winick. The film, featuring Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer and Any Serkis in the lead roles received mostly positive reviews from critics. In the same year, the actress starred alongside Alexa Vega, Sara Paxton, Mika Boorem, Scout Taylor-Compton and Kallie Flynn Childress in the American teen drama Sleepover. The film directed by Joe Nussbaum opened to positive reviews and opened at the number 10 position in the box office.

In 2007, the actress made her debut as a voice actor as she lent her voice to the character, `I need a Z-pack` penguin in the American direct-to-video parody, Farce of the Penguins directed by Bob Saget. Over the next few years, the actress appeared in several films like House Broken (2009), Tanner Hall (2009), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), 21 Jump Street and Don Jon (2013) before eventually rising to fame with a stellar performance in Short Term 12 (2013). The film based on Cretton`s short film of the same name was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and it also featured John Gallagher, Jr., Kaitlyn Dever and Rami Malek in the lead roles. Upon release, the film received wide positive reviews and Larson for her brilliant performance won many awards including the Austin Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress and Breakthrough Artist.

Following her success with 21 Jump Street, the actress next collaborated with director Michael Knowles for the American drama The Trouble with Bliss. The film, which follows the life of a 35-year-old man living with his widowed father opened to positive reviews and won Best Narrative Feature at the San Diego Film Festival in 2011. The same year, the actress starred in the American romantic comedy-drama The Spectacular Now directed by James Ponsoldt. The film co-starring Miles Teller, Shailene Woodley, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival where it received wide critical acclaim and received the Special Jury Award for Acting.

The actress` next major hit came in 2015 as she starred in Room, an independent drama film directed by Lenny Abrahmson. The film, based on the novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. Larson`s career-defining role as a woman who has been held for seven years not only catapulted her stardom but also won many prestigious awards including the Academy Award for Best Actress, BAFTA Award, and the Golden Globe Award. Larson`s 2017 release includes Kong: Skull Island, an American monster thriller film directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Larson has co-written and co-directed two short films and made her feature film directorial debut with the independent comedy-drama Unicorn Store (2017). She then featured in Just Mercy (2019). She featured in Fast X. She then reprised her role as Captain Marvel in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) and The Marvels (2023).

TV Career
Brie Larson started her professional career in TV with The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (1998) where she appeared in two episodes. The same year, the actress played the role of Lily Quinn in To Have And To Hold, a drama series that aired on CBS. Over the next few years, she appeared in series` like Popular (1999), Hope & Faith (2003), and Ghost Whisperer (2008) before establishing herself as an accomplished TV actress with her role as a rebellious teenager in the TV series the United States of Tara, an American comedy-drama series. Her other popular TV series` appearances include Kroll Show (2013), Comedy Bang! Bang! and Saturday Night Live (2016).

For producing the virtual reality series The Messy Truth VR Experience (2020), she won a Primetime Emmy Award.
