One, grin a knowing grin, and chuckle kyonki badi badi picture mein aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain. Two, groan and think aloud couldnt they think of one new dialogue because, you know, it is a new film, innit? Or is it just Farah Khan, reuniting with her old friend turned foe (via a very public feud fought in the tabloids) turned friend again, reprising her number paying tribute to the 70s Bollywood masala movie, only bigger and more blindingly brighter than ever? ...Read full review
Happy New Year exists to serve only one function to entertain. Entertainment is a worthy goal. Even Ingmar Bergmans commandments for filmmakers include: Thou shalt be entertaining at all times. And Farah Khan, inheritor of the Manmohan Desai mantle, has proved that she is more than capable of giving us a good time. But in Happy New Year, the desire to entertain overshadows everything else script, characters, coherence, narrative logic. The result is a three hour film that simply beats you into submission. ...Read full review
